Bryce by Lauren Runow and Jeannine Colette ~ Review & Swoon Thursday (@LaurenRunow @jeannineColett)

This is the second book by this writing duo, and they have hooked me once again with Bryce's book! He is just a sweet guy, who got caught in the wrong situation... however he worked hard for Tessa and realised what he was missing in life.

“Truth or dare?”
“I’ll take your dare.”
“Kiss me.”

I don’t believe in Prince Charming, but when I met a handsome stranger on a rooftop his words intrigued me and his dares left nothing but temptation.

Then I learned the truth.

His name is Bryce Sexton. Media mogul, workaholic and a heart of stone. He’s broody AF and yet every woman in San Francisco wants him.

So why won’t he leave me alone?

Wherever I go, he’s there, trying to force his way into my world. What he doesn’t know is I already have a man in my life. A tiny redhead who loves Legos and Superheroes.

With every push, Bryce pulls me in further. Our pasts are laced with betrayal. Our futures are unpredictable. Our chemistry is explosive.

With each dare I uncover a truth, but he's exactly what I don’t need right now.

So why did I have to go and kiss him?

I had so much fun reading Bryce's book, getting to know that strong and fierce brother who wanted what was best for his family. It was amusing to see him fall for a girl who didn't run in his circle, who also came as a package deal. It was a sweet, exciting and intense read, and like the first book, the last few lines left me hanging for Tanner's book... the mysterious brother I am dying to meet!

I really liked Bryce! He was a strong, determined and successful man, but he was kind and sweet too. He wanted to succeed in his role at the helm of his mother's company, but he wanted a family and his goals shifted a little once he met Tessa.

I liked how Tessa had made a life for herself and her son, but I could see that she was lacking company, which she realised after she met Bryce. He kind of swept her off her feet at their initial meeting, and he was determined to win her over.

It was sweet watching them fall for one another, and especially how Bryce fell for Charlie too. Bryce decided to take a bit of a step back from work, despite the pressure he was under from his Father and his wife Missy. There were issues that surfaced that threw a spanner in the works, and I hoped they would see that they were stronger together to get through.

I'm really enjoying the work from this writing duo. They're delivering stories I can relate too, and throwing in some hooks to keep me coming back. Although these books can be read as standalones, I think the reader would get a better understanding of the brothers if you read each book. I am REALLY looking forward to Tanner's story, as we haven't officially met him yet!

I have a sweet moment, and one to curl your toes!

“When was the last time you felt you were at the right place, at the right time, with the right person?”
“Right now,” she breathes.
“Me, too.”

“Truth or dare?” I whisper.
He shakes his head. “I’ll dare myself.”
He moves closer, pulling me in, and I let him. All reason flies out of my mind. My heart pounds out of control as an urge I haven’t felt in years takes over. My breath hitches when I feel his breath sweep across my lips, so close.
“I’m going to kiss you.”
I heed the warning and close my eyes. I nod slightly and relish in the feeling of his lips as they softly touch mine. My body goes limp as he pulls me into him, supporting my weight before he opens his mouth, sweeping his tongue against my lips, asking for permission to enter.

Tequila High by Michelle Leighton ~ Review & Swoon Thursday (@mleightonbooks)

I am a huge fan of Michelle Leighton and I am so happy that she's brought us a light and sexy read, Tequila High! I smashed through this one, like devouring a shot of Tequila myself!

Haley Brandt isn’t the one-night-stand type, but too much tequila and a man with two sinfully black eyes left her breathless and willing to break her own rules. Her only solace was the fact that she’d never see him again.

Until the next morning when she finds out he’s her ride out of town and back to the ranch where she grew up.

Nixon Holt works with Haley’s father, so Haley makes her position clear—she doesn’t get involved with ranch employees. Ever. At nineteen, she’d learned her lesson the hard way, and it became her one unbreakable rule.

But Nixon makes his position clear, too: He’s going to wear down Haley’s defenses and he won’t stop until she breaks all her rules for him. He’s well on his way when Haley finds out the one thing that could make her hate him. Nixon is left with two choices: walk away or break all his rules for her.

Michelle Leighton is one of my all time favourite authors, so when she brings out a new book you know I am going to snap it up. Once I got my hands on Tequila High, you can bet that I devoured it during every spare moment that I had! It was a lighter read than the last few books she has written, full of sexual tension and amusing moments that will leave any reader wanting more!

Right from the opening chapters, I knew I was going to enjoy meeting Haley and Nixon! They had immediate chemistry, and although neither of them were looking for anything serious, I could see that they had a taste for one another that would keep them wanting more. Hayley spent a bit of time trying to keep Nixon at arms length, but she soon realised he wasn't going to stay away, and the flirting games began!

I loved that all the sisters and their father had a strong bond, despite Haley being away for so long. She returned home and I could see that they would do anything for one another. I liked the way that Nixon had a good relationship with them all as well, but he only had eyes for Haley. The way he became possessive of her and defended her when she needed it made me realise what they had was real, even though he didn't know it at the time. He really was a great guy, who thought he was happy until Haley turned his world upside down!

Tequila High was such a delightful read. It wasn't always smooth sailing as a few demons resurfaced to try and derail these lovebirds. However, a love like these two had was unbreakable and even time didn't diminish that fact. I'm so excited that Michelle Leighton has introduced us to a new cowboy to love, since my first read of hers was The Wild Ones (gotta love Trick!), and I've always wanted more! I can tell you that she sure delivered this one perfectly... and I want to come back to this world again! I hope we get to see all the girls fall in love and decide which direction their careers will take them!

I have two swoons today... one was a intense kiss. The other sexy flirting!

“Just hold still.” I fist my hands in the soft material of his shirt and haul myself up onto my tiptoes. The moment I smash my mouth to his, chaos explodes all around us. It’s like fireworks in my ears. Cheering and whooping, caterwauling and howling. I feel like Rachel when she kissed Ross for the first time and the studio crowd went wild.
After a few seconds, I lean back, smiling and satisfied by my courageous efforts. Before I can pull away, though, he stops me. “Wait.”
I pause, looking up at him. His eyes pour down into mine like sweet, thick molasses. And just like that, I’m caught. Stuck. Held breathlessly.
Two words ripple through the fireworks. A warning. A taunt. “My turn.”
They land in my stomach with a boom.
One palm rises to the side of my neck, his thumb by my ear. He gives me the space of three erratic heartbeats to protest before he bends to press his lips to mine. I don’t protest because I can’t. I want this. More than I can remember wanting anything in recent years.
And he gives it to me.

“Do you know what time it is?”
“I do. Do you?”
“Yes, it’s six forty-five. Way too early to be up exercising and grunting.”
“Early mornings are the best time to grunt. And exercise, too, for that matter.” He gives me a wink that nearly blows my robe open.

The Sexy One by Lauren Blakely ~ Review & Swoon Thursday (@LaurenBlakely3)

From NYT Bestselling author Lauren Blakely comes a sexy new standalone romance…

Let me count the ways why falling into forbidden love is not my wisest move...
1. She works with me every single day.
Did I mention she's gorgeous, sweet, kind and smart?
2. She works in my home.
Playing with my five-year-old daughter. Teaching my little girl. Cooking for my princess. Which means...
3. She's the nanny.
And that makes her completely off-limits... But it doesn’t stop me from wanting her. All of her.

***

The other nannies in this city don't call him the Sexy One for nothing. My boss, the amazingly wonderful single father to the girl I take care of every day is ridiculously hot, like movie star levels with those arms, and those eyes, and that body. Not to mention, the way he dotes on his little girl melts me all over. But what really makes my knees weak are the times when his gaze lingers on me. In secret. When no one else is around.

I can't risk my job for a chance at something more... can I? But I don’t know how to resist him much longer either...

Abby had been working as a nanny for a while, looking after Hayden. She had a crush on Simon, but never acted on those feelings. However, Abby and Simon kind of connected while they watched an eagle family grow online. Their attraction continued to intensify until they both combusted.

Simon interacting with his child was definitely swoon worthy, and Abby had her own sweet relationship with Hayden which was sweet to watch. I Liked how they both easily worked together, both having Hayden's best interests at heart.

I liked that they both had close friends that they could turn to for advice and support. Abby was a bit younger than Simon and an impulsive moment was a big hurdle for both her and Simon, and impacted her relationship with a few people. However, I liked how Simon stood up for Abby when she needed it.

I’m really not sure how I felt about this book, it was a bit of a meh read for me. I liked the characters enough, but I didn’t really connect to them like I hoped I would. The Sexy One was a sweet romance, with a couple that bonded well together. They were both smart and had a lot in common and despite the 8 year age gap, they made their relationship work.

I picked three little teases today, mostly from Simon's perspective. I liked how he was all alpha male and was willing to put his heart on the line!

I’m totally the motherfucking hunter, and this is my prize for the woman I so badly want to woo.

There’s one thing you should know.
I wasn’t that drunk.

I was more than sober enough to put a stop to it.
The truth is, it was my idea. I’m the one who suggested it.

I knew it was crazy, but it’s not as if I’d be the first girl to get married on a whim in Las Vegas. I wouldn’t even be the last girl to get married on a whim in Las Vegas.

So what’s my excuse? I liked him. I liked the idea that he’d be stuck with me, just for a little bit.

Because nothing good ever lasts, so you might as well have a good time while you can.

GOOD TIME is a standalone romantic comedy set in the same world as Good Girl.
This is Payton & Vince's story.

What a freakin' entertaining read Good Time was! It was just what I needed to brighten my hectic week. It was hilarious right from the beginning and I loved watching Payton's big personality click with Vince, and also Canon. It was an addictive read that I legiterally could not put down.

Payton was priceless! I loved the way she saw the world and did things a little unconventionally, like sampling a life coach. She was quite spontaneous and she had a personality that was infectious, and you would always have a good time with her. Although, underneath all that bravado was a girl who did question herself at times, and whether she did the right thing or not.

Ahhh Vince! It was fun getting to know him through Payton. He didn't reveal all of himself to her, but the more I learned about him, the more I liked him. I could see that he was intrigued by Payton's quirks, and after the whole marriage debacle, he kept coming back for more!

This book was packed with amusing situations from cover to cover. It crossed over with Good Girl, so I could see a few scenes from that book from a different perspective. I loved seeing Lydia and Rhys again, but also Canon! He is the one I want to see in his own book.

Jana Aston is one of my go-to-authors when I'm after something a little quirky, naughty and packed with humour, so it didn't surprise me that she delivered all that and more with Good Time! She's a master of Romantic Comedy and she always brings me characters that are unique and comical to read about! Bring on your next book Jana, I want Canon!

This was the perfect build up to the perfect moment!

“You look at me like I’m interesting. Or at the very least pretty.”
Somewhere in this exchange he’s stepped half a foot closer, but he’s still not touching me.
“You like my ass,” I add in a last-ditch effort because he’s neither saying anything or kissing me.
He moves another inch closer and smiles. I have to tilt my head back to meet his eyes and I’m holding my breath because sexual tension is tense.
“I look at you that way because you’re nuts and I never know what’s about to come out of your mouth.”
“Oh.” Oh. I blink. Wow, did I get this wrong. My cheeks heat in embarrassment and I drop my gaze to his shoulder. I’m still really into the way the jacket fits him. Perfectly cut, the seam running from to neck to sleeve really does it for me, so there’s that.
“And because you’re beautiful.”
Oh. Okay. We’re doing a mixed signals thing. I bite my lip and risk another look at him.
“Game-changing beautiful.” The words are whispered against my ear. “Possibly crazy, definitely trouble.” This whispered against my lips.
And then he kisses me.

MYRTLE
I’m a just an erotic woman who likes control.
And edgy sex.
And hard men.
At the same time.
So starting an outreach class at the TDH community center to teach other women how to put the dom in dominatrix was inevitable. Even if I was only doing it to use my boss, Pierce, as my submissive example and pay him back for humiliating me in front of the whole world last summer.

PIERCE
I regret what I did to Myrtle. She’s the best assistant I’ve ever had and I’ll play along—for now—because I want to make things right. But... come on. Me? A submissive? Ha. Myrtle Rothschild might have the upper hand at the moment… but I’m bringing my A-game. I’m gonna take back control.

She can wear her hot, thigh-high latex boots. She can crack that whip all she wants. Hell, I’ll even let her leave marks.

But I’m about to school Ms. Rothschild in the art of who’s the boss.
And she’s about to get Pierce-d.

After reading The Sexpert, I didn't think I could enjoy this duo's writing any more... but I was wrong! Pierced was an even better read as I watched Pierce and his ex-secretary, now VP of Social Media, Myrtle work through their issues to fall for one another. It was another quick and amusing read, that was full of sexual tension and quirky moments that had me hooked!

Pierce was a strong, good looking and successful man, and he grew a lot throughout this read. I loved the way he was willing to give over a bit of control to Myrtle, so he could get his favourite person in the world to forgive him. He still was a little self absorbed, but I could see that he cared deeply for Myrtle, and he worked hard to get her to like him again. With a little push from Andrew and Eden, from the previous book, he was willing to fight for what he wanted.

I loved Myrtle in the first book, so I was excited to see what she was really like. She showed us that there was a different person that she was hiding, and often appearances aren't what they seem to be. It was amusing to watch Myrtle try to tame Pierce, and she doubted herself at times, but Pierce would be there to comfort her as well.

Pierce and Myrtle together were entertainment plus! The sexual tension between them was off the charts and I could see how deeply they cared for one another. Every situation that Myrtle put Pierce into was hilarious, but he was willing to do anything for her!

I just love the way that J.A. Huss and Johnathan McClain deliver these books together; they complement each other so well and I get lost in their worlds. Each character is created well, and I can't help but want to know more about them. I just don't know how they will top this book, but I'm sure they will try!

Here's a couple of cute litte teasers that made my heart melt jus ta little!
