Eighteen is hard.
And so is Mateo Alesci.
He’s hard to read, hard to predict, hard in every way that counts. He wants things from me.
Dirty things, nasty things, forbidden things.
And I have to give in.
His attention is completely inappropriate, but I can’t say no. The way he looks at me… the way he watches me through my bedroom window… the way he drags me deeper and deeper into his completely forbidden fantasy world just… turns me on.
He knows it turns me on.
He holds all the power. He holds all the cards.
He holds my entire future in his hands.
And I have to give in.
Because Mr. Alesci is my teacher.
And I need everything he’s offering.

I’m a fan of reading about forbidden romances... And J.A. Huss decided to write one, so of course I had to devour it! It was everything that I hoped for… It was hot, sexy, with sizzling sex scenes, and just like I expect from Huss, there’s a few twists to add some intensity! Once I started to read this book, I found it hard to put down, I tell you!

Shannon was such a great character to read about. She was feisty, willing to stand up for herself when cornered, and didn’t hold back on what she was thinking. In the first chapter, she goes on the defensive and argues with the guidance councillor because of stupid rules that the school has. She dropped the f-bomb multiple times, and he didn’t blink an eye. Although she was coasting through school, the added pressure drew out her emotions and she broke down a little and my heart ached for her. Then I learned more about her, what she has been through, the people that she’d lost and what she was fighting to live for. She was a good person and was doing all she could for her remaining family.

Mateo… he was intense, direct and incredibly sexy! I loved the way he spoke to Shannon, and left no room for argument; his words were dirty, his instructions were naughty, but geez it was hot! Shannon would do anything he asked, and most of the time it came back to sex and the connection they had. Shannon seemed to trust him immediately, despite what they were doing was wrong. He came across a bit stalkerish in the beginning, but it was because he knew Shannon was it for him!

Another character introduced was Sunday (Danny). I really liked him and loved his approach when it came to Shannon. He was upfront with her and looked out for her when he could. He did the sweetest things and they remained friends despite Mateo warning her to keep away from him. I hope we get to see more of him in the future… he deserves a HEA too!

I loved every moment of reading Eighteen. It was raunchy, it was intense and the characters had great chemistry. I loved watching the relationship between Shannon and Mateo grow. Shannon learned a lot about herself and what she could achieve, and Mateo helped her with that. Mateo knew what he wanted, and planned on convincing Shannon to be his, but his ways weren’t always the best. I loved meeting his family, especially his mother and what it meant for Shannon. I could see that he was holding back though, which put a little doubt into Shannon’s mind. I love the way J.A. Huss writes her books; she creates passionate characters that anyone can relate to in some way. That’s why she remains one of my favourite authors! Bring on your next project girl, I cannot wait!
