The thrilling conclusion to the Dark Angel series…

Everything about Michael’s dark plan has been hidden – until now. On an island off the coast of Egypt, a fourth Seraphim city has been discovered; a city that doesn’t appear on any Seraphim map. This city is hidden, the air smells of blood and there is something very, very wrong with the inhabitants.

Back at Castle Speranza, while Alyx is off uncovering the secret of Raphael’s charm, someone will betray her in the worst possible way…

Michael now has everything he needs. Will Alyx be able to stop Michael? Or could this be the end of the world as we know it?

Angeldust is the fifth and final book in the Dark Angel series, and I was a bit sad to see it end, but excited to see what would happen with Alyx and Israel, the rest of the group and whether or not they could stop the evil Michael. It was an exciting conclusion to the series, with plenty of twists to keep me on edge.

Alyx and Israel have been on a long journey and understand that they are both a big part of bringing Michael down. I liked seeing both of them step up, face each challenge and never back down when it counted. They are still fiercly passionate about one another and it was beautiful to see their love continue to grow.

Like the other books, there were a lot of hurdles for each of them to face. Alyx had to go on another quest of her own, and I enjoyed the riddles she had to unravel. Israel continued to grow as a man and as a pawn in the game. Jordan had to come to term with his feelings and put it all aside to fight for what is right.

The whole series was exciting and I was satisfied with the ending. I had tears in my eyes towards the end of Angeldust as I saw what sacrifices had to be made. Hanna Peach has again done a remarkable job of drawing me into her magnificent world so that I felt that I knew each and every character personally. She pulled in all the elements I have learned along the way, to make this the perfect ending to the series.

Elias by Sabrina Paige ~ Review & Quote-tastic

In June, Sabrina Paige had a 99c sale on all of her books, and my 1-click finger was twitchy, so I purchased all the books from two of her three series. Elias is the first book I have read and I will get to the rest soon!

River Andrews

Call me Cinderella. I'm a rags to riches story - girl from trailer park becomes Hollywood starlet. And I'm about to get my happy ever after.

That is, until I walk in to my house, three hours before my wedding, to find my rock star fiance sticking his c**k down my sister's throat.

With cameras behind me, filming.

I'm running from the whole humiliating thing. I'm not prepared to run straight into him- Elias Saint.

He's completely wrong for me- damaged, dirty, and demanding.

But once he touches me, I can't walk away.

Elias Saint

Some people carry their wounds on the inside. Every f**cking step I take, I'm reminded of mine.

I lost my leg in Afghanistan. Since then, I've just been lost.

Now I'm going back to West Bend, Colorado, the place my brothers and I ran like hell to get away from.

And she's hitched a ride- River Andrews.

A f**cking movie star.

This isn't a fairytale. Happy endings don't exist. And I'm no f**ing Prince Charming.

But, for her, there's a chance I might be.

Sabrina Paige’s books were on sale recently, so for 99c each I decide to pick up a few and I began my Sabrina experience with Elias. I found this to be a good start to a fun, but intriguing series and I look forward to meeting each of the Saint Brother’s in the future.

To sum it up, River wants to escape from her very public life and the fact she just caught her fiancé with her sister, just hours before she was to marry him. I loved how she calmly took out her frustrations before fleeing! Elias has been medically discharged from the Navy. He was in Vegas, partying with friends when he crossed paths with River. He had no clue on who she was but they were both attracted to one another immediately. When Elias helps River out he has no idea how much she would turn his life upside down.

I really liked seeing these two get to know one another. They both know they are attracted to the other, and slowly let their walls down. The passion between them continued to sizzle throughout the story and their feelings grew. Elias got to know the girl behind the famous career and River could see past Elias’ injury to the kind man inside. Both of their pasts continue to haunt them, however, and misunderstandings tear them apart.

This series is not just about the relationship between Elias and River; I can see that there is something about this small town that is going to carry over into the next book. Silas, Elias’s brother has a feeling that their father’s death may not be as black and white as they all think. I am curious as to where this particular thread is taking us and would like to see more in the next book.

Like I said, this is the first book of Sabrina’s book that I have read and I was surprised how quickly she drew me into her world. The character’s weren’t perfect or proud of some issues in their pasts, but they pulled themselves together and made themselves better people. There were a few secondary characters that I would like to see more of, and I liked how the brother’s were able to rally together in a difficult time. This was a great start to the series and I will definitely be reading more!

"You're mine whether you know it now or not," I said, interrupting her when she opened her mouth to protest. "Don't even say it. I know I don't own you and shit. I'm not a caveman. But nobody fucks with you. You're mine, and I'm not going to fucking apologize for it, so you can just deal."

Naomi’s Weekly Wrap Up 143

I had a quiet week this week, it is cold and I don’t feel like going out much! I just want to snuggle with a book. I did go to get my shoulder worked on; the nerves were pinching, so I am a bit battered and bruised! Lol I will survive!

The kids are finished school for the term and have a two week break. They are off to my Mother’s for a few days, and I am sure I won’t do much while they’re gone!

Ava McKenzie is a creature of habit. Life is passing her by and she has nothing to show for it. She’s had the same job since she started college, she orders the same dish every time she goes to her favorite restaurant, and only reads books from authors she knows. There is nothing new or surprising in her life… until her best friend marries a man from London. When her newlywed friend asks her to house-sit while she honeymoons, Ava jumps at the chance. She thinks this could be the very thing she needs to shake up her life. Ava throws herself head first into her new lifestyle; she wants to try everything, go everywhere, and never get stuck in a rut again. Of course, offing a man in a car garage hadn’t been one of the things on her list to try.

Owen Walker spends every day in a new place with a new case. As one of the most renowned assassins in the world, he has his choice of marks—and he’s never failed in a mission. When a new hit takes him back to his hometown, he looks forward to spending time somewhere familiar. What he isn’t expecting is to help an attractive, confused American woman find out how she’s ended up on a hit man’s list.

As Ava and Owen dodge bullets, will they be able to escape their undeniable attraction to each other? Or will all of that chemistry blow up in a shower of hot and dangerous sparks?

I wasn’t sure what to expect when I dived into this book, but it was nice to read something that was a bit lighter than a few of the books that I have been reading lately. The Accidental Assassin was a quirky read about Ava, who is in London to shake her life up and accidently lands in Owen’s complicated and dangerous world.

Ava was such a delight to read about! She’s looking to change her life around and do things outside of her comfort zone. House-sitting for her friend and her new husband sounds like a good start, but she was never prepared for what was coming. She was soon on the run with the hot, British assassin who was trying to keep her alive. Ava adjusted to her life on the run after her initial freak outs. She worked well under pressure and her feelings for Owen grew throughout the journey.

I liked Owen right from the beginning; he was cute and did a few sweet things for Ava, while doing what he knows best: killing people and getting out alive. He opened up a lot throughout the story and let a few people past his well constructed walls… especially Ava. She showed him that he isn’t as cold hearted as he thought and he saw a lot of things differently with Ava in his life.

Ava and Owen were an entertaining couple to read about. I enjoyed being in their fast paced world and meeting the few allies they could count on. Ava and Owen were attracted to each other from the start, and the chemistry between them grew throughout the book. The storyline was deeper than I thought it would be and will carry on into the next book in the series, but for now I am happy with how it ended and to see how their worlds are connected. This was a good start to a new series and I am keen to get more and get deeper insight to all the characters introduced.

The soup from earlier hadn’t really cut it and I was craving something more substantial. In fact, I was starting to hate the thought of soup. I’d probably never eat the stuff again. There were canned beans, vegetables, and some kind of tinned meat that scared me. I did find some crackers and a can of beef stew. It would probably taste like dog food, but at this point I wasn’t going to be too picky. I picked up the can opener from the counter and started working on the beef stew.
Something moved out back by a shed and I froze. It was dark out, but I could have sworn I saw a person. I ducked out of sight of the window and tried to catch my breath. A moment later I peeked back around the cabinets but couldn’t see anything. Taking a deep breath I walked into the living room with my can and can opener still clutched in my hands. I tiptoed across the carpet and lifted one of the blinds with a finger. The crunch of gravel drew my attention to the road and I saw a dark car with no lights making its way toward the house.
I jerked back around and dove for the chair where my gun was still lying. I threw the beef stew on the couch and wrapped my fingers around the pistol’s grip. My body was moving without thought, some kind of survival instinct kicking in. Every cell practically screamed, “Don’t die! Don’t die!” I sort of floated to the bathroom door. It didn’t feel like my feet ever touched the ground. One minute I was scrambling for my gun and the next I was pressed against the wooden door. Not sure if anyone was listening to what was going on in the house, I rapped gently with my knuckles.
“Owen! There’s someone here!” I hissed the words and increased my rapping when he didn’t answer right away. “Owen! Damn it! Answer the door!”
The bathroom door opened and I practically fell into his wet arms. My body slid against his in a delicious tangle of damp skin that I shouldn’t have even noticed. The shower was still running, but he’d taken the time to wrap a towel around his waist. I looked up at him, water dripping from his hair onto my face.
“There’s someone here!” I whispered as I stood up and pointed to the front door. “And in the back!” I swung my arm behind me.
Without a word he turned around and dropped the towel. My mouth fell open at the view and I felt my head tilt to the side as he bent over to grab his underwear. The man had a lot to work with. He pulled the tight shorts up and I wondered why all men didn’t wear those.

Probably because they wouldn’t all look like Owen in them.

Shattered by You by Nashoda Rose ~ Review & Giveaway

This has been an incredible journey so far and after reading Overwhelmed by You I was dying to read Haven and Crisis' story. Shattered by You was a beautiful read of a girl trying to find her independence, after being locked away for 12 years.

What started out as a deal quickly became a friendship that conquered monsters.

I killed, but I escaped hell.
Emotionless. Disconnected. Cold. A mannequin. It’s what I’d become in order to survive the years held in captivity. I was able to endure the abuse and devastating loss as long as I remained detached.

But he wouldn't let me.
Crisis, the bass guitarist in my brother’s rock band, Tear Asunder. He’s cocky, rude, a total man-whore. But the rock star has far more beneath the surface of his inked skin, and he’s determined to make me laugh again.
He made me a "deal", but really, it was blackmail.
His terms were simple. Until his playful honesty became the building blocks to something unexpected. Something strong enough to pull me from the eye of the storm.

Because even though I escaped years of abuse, it didn’t mean I was free.

For mature audiences only.
Shattered by You is written as a standalone, however, it is recommended you read the Tear Asunder books in order.
*Contains spoilers for "Overwhelmed by You"

I have loved each and every book in the Tear Asunder series, so it would come as no surprise that I loved Shattered by You as well. I knew that Haven’s story would be a difficult one and it was beautiful to see Crisis slowly get under her skin, being there for her and helping her through her dark times.

Crisis and Haven’s relationship really started to develop while the guys were touring. Crisis would text Haven daily, and I loved these moments between them. Haven was relaxed and began to learn about him. When they came home she found it hard to be near him initially, but it soon became easier.

I learned a lot of what happened with Haven in the previous book, but there was still so much I needed to know about her. I had an idea of what was coming and I knew it would break my heart like it did. Even though she endured so much, it was amazing to see Haven grow as a person and try and make the best of her life. She wanted to be independent, do her own thing, but soon realised she didn’t have to do it all alone.

Crisis was just incredible. He supported Haven at every turn and knew that he wanted Haven way before she did. It was good to see him settle down and he watched out for her, even though Ream didn’t want him near her.

I loved seeing all the characters again, and seeing how they are all coping in their relationships. I saw more of Kite too, and I’m excited to see more into his naughty personal life. Haven and Ream’s sibling relationship took time to heal in this book because she didn’t want to upset him by telling him everything. Even though this book dealt with some dark issues, I don’t think it was as dark as the previous two books. It was another fabulous instalment to the series, and I was left happy with how things worked out. If you enjoy a dark read, you need to try this series; it’s intense, emotional and pulls at your heart!

Wasted Lust by J.A. Huss ~ Review & Swoon Thursday

Wasted Lust is released today... and it was one helluva ending!! I hope that in some way I can convince you to start from the beginning and be swept away in JA Huss's thrilling world!

A girl with regrets…

Sasha Cherlin died the night she let Nick Tate walk out on her for a life of crime. Her very essence was destroyed when they broke their promise to one another.

A man with remorse…

Nick Tate made his choice with her future in mind. He loved Sasha enough to know that leaving her behind was the only way to keep her safe.

A path to revenge…

Special Agent Jax Barlow understands the bond of love and he plans to use it to get justice. Nick and Sasha will do anything to rewrite their past. He’s counting on that to bring them down.

Wasted Lust is a standalone full-length romantic suspense filled with lies, secrets, and the power of redemption by the New York Times bestselling author, JA Huss.

After reading twelve books relating to this world, it has come down to Wasted Lust, the thirteenth and final book in the saga. Although a lot of the books can be read individually, if you have not read all of the books in this series, you will not fully appreciate how amazing this book actually is. Wasted Lust occurs two years after Meet Me In The Dark (where Sasha comes into it towards the end) and runs on the same timeline as Three, Two, One (321) (where there is a small overlap featuring Jax, that I had to go back and read).

I was taken on an epic journey, seeing what life was like for Sasha, all grown up and trying to find her place in the normal world. What I wasn’t ready for was the amount of emotion that I would go through, feeling Sasha’s loneliness, seeing how lost she was, and just looking for someone who understood her. With Nate trying to resurface in her life she is struggling with her promise and what she needs in her future.

Jax… was amazing! I loved how he kept close to Sasha, learned all he could about her and really understood her. He would do some of the sweetest things, but would push Sasha when needed. I could see he was falling for her as she showed her true self to him.

Once I began this book I found it SO hard to put it down. The world is complicated and I was taken all over the country, trying to figure out who the good guys actually were and wondering what was going to happen next for Jax and Sasha.

I liked the small glimpses of my favourite characters from the original series too, mainly the ladies and the kiddos! I loved seeing that their families have continued to develop and they are all close! I want more of Five and Princess Ruby, but we will wait and see!

How this story wrapped up… well, I will say my heart shattered for Sasha! I BAWLED my eyes out about the situation she was in and had to take a moment to calm down (even now those pesky tears are coming back). But the epilogues… loved them, seeing how everyone has continued on. I am satisfied with how it all finished and when I finished, I sat back and sighed… well done Julie, I loved it!

“See what?” I whisper.
“The longing. The desire. And when I make you come, the relief.”
