Torian by Eden Summers ~ Review & Teaser (@EdenSummers1)

I've read each of the books in this series, but this one is definitely my favourite! Torian was a definite badass, and was the perfect match for Anissa. I enjoyed the suspense and the romance and I truly hope we get more from this world!

From International bestselling author, Eden Summers, comes a seductive forbidden romance destined to leave you breathless.

I fell for the enemy.
A man whose actions resemble the devil so closely it frightens me.

We were meant to hate each other.
To despise and detest.

But his appeal is so much greater than the playboy smile and body built for sin.

What I'm doing is wrong.
What I'm feeling is immoral.

Because he's the head of the Portland mafia.
And I'm the Fed who promised to take him down.

I thought that Decker and Hunter were amazing reads, however, Torian blew me away! Two sides of the law coming together and trying to fight their connection while trying to take down one of he most brutal dark world figures ever. It was fantastic!

I loved how strong and stubborn both Torian and Anissa were. They were very much alike and unable to step down from a fight, and they both liked having the last word. They bickered a lot, liked to express their opinions, and the tension between them continued to grow.

Torian was unsure of how Anissa got under his skin, but she managed to sway his decisions and he wanted to protect her. Anissa saw most things as either black or white, but Torian was able to show her that there were shades of grey when it came to his world.

I have read a lot of books by Eden Summers, but I throughly enjoyed this world! There was suspense entwined through the whole story, and I honestly can’t tell if his story is over... I seriously hope not! Torian’s world is dark, however being caught in his fathers world gave the story a whole other level of suspense, that I didn’t know if they could get out of it!

Torian was a badass, but he knew what he wanted!

“Tell me what you’re thinking.” She inches up to me, placing her hands on my chest. “Because all I can think about right now is being with you.”
“That’s survival mode kickin’ in, sweetheart. You’ll get over it.”
“Will I?” She leans close, her palms sliding up to my neck. “What if I don’t?”
“Then that will make two of us.” I press my lips to hers, unable to deny myself.

The Billionaire Book Club Questionnaire

#1: Who is your least favorite character in the book? Me—Caplin Hawkins. I am an absolute idiot.

#2: Who is your favorite character? Gorgeous, addictive, insanely challenging Ruby.
She’s smart, driven, self-confident, and so beautiful, she makes my chest ache.

#3 What is your biggest takeaway from the story? Ruby Rockford and I are meant to be.
I just have to prove it to her.

For the entirety of my adult life, I’ve been content.
Content in my single lifestyle, content in my stressful-but-extremely-successful job as the main corporate counsel for almost every Fortune 500 company in North America, and content in my playful, spontaneous ways.

I had no idea it was possible for someone to change my mind.

The endless women and work are no longer enough, and just as Ruby Rockford told me—it’s about time I grow up.

It’s going to take a strategic attack from more than a couple brilliant minds to win her affection, but luckily, I know exactly where to find the right guys for the job…
The Billionaire Book Club.
It’s safe to say that I, Caplin Hawkins, the man most women would call The Ultimate Player, have finally met my match, and man oh man, has my end game changed.

I’m coming for you, Ruby.
And soon, you’ll be coming for me, too.

I've been trying a lot of new to me authors lately, looking for someone to blow me away, and I admit Max Monroe has come close with The Billionaire Book Club. I enjoyed how the relationship grew throughout the story and that Caplin was willing to work hard to win Ruby over.

Ruby didn't want anything to do with Caplin to begin with, she turned him down at their first meeting, however Caplin was determined to see her again. When he presented an offer to Ruby that was hard to refuse, it was inevitable that these two would get together, but Ruby didn't make it easy for Caplin.

I liked that Ruby was a strong and goal driven character. I could see that she didn't let people in easily and had a hard time believing that Caplin was genuine. Caplin made me laugh, he had a fun personality and wasn't too serious outside of business. When they were together I loved seeing them banter and not hold back. The tension between them was brewing and I could see how good they would be together!

I liked that Caplin had a good support crew around him, where their weekly poker night soon turned into a Book Club. They were willing to support Caplin in his pursuit of Ruby and offered all sorts of advice. I can see that there are other books to read relating to these other men, and I'm looking forward to reading more of Monroe's work. She certainly created characters that I genuinely adored and I enjoyed how entertaining and light this read was!

These moments were sweet! I had to share!

“I like you, Ruby. What if, just for tonight, you let yourself see what it might be like to like me?”

“Caplin fucking Hawkins,” she says softly with a shake of her head. “I can’t believe I’m saying this, but for some insane reason…” I hold my breath. “I love you too.”

A memorable night of passion refuses to stay just a memory in this sizzling and scandalous romance from bestselling author T L Swan.

I was upgraded to first class on a flight from London to New York.

The food, champagne, and service were impeccable.

The blue-eyed man sitting next to me, even better.

He was suave and intelligent.

We talked and laughed, and something clicked.

Fate took over and the plane was grounded, and we had an unexpected stopover for the night.

With no plans, we made our own.

We danced and laughed our way around Boston and had a night of crazy passion that no woman would ever forget.

That was twelve months ago, and I haven’t heard from him—until today.

I started a new job and met the CEO. You can imagine my surprise to see those naughty blue eyes dance with delight when he saw me across the mahogany desk.

But I’m not that carefree girl anymore. My life has changed, I have responsibilities.

I just got an email.

He wants to see me in his office for a private meeting at 8:00 a.m.

Naughty blue eyes have no place in the workplace.

What kind of private meeting does he have in mind?

I went into this book with my fingers crossed hoping to love it. I admit the beginning was so much fun as I watched the interaction between Emily and “Jim”. It was fun and flirty and I loved how Emily decided to be a carefree kind of a girl, and took a chance with Jim.

However once we skipped into the future and Emily landed a job at Miles Media, we found out who Jim really was and I saw him for the arrogant jerk that he really was. At times he was just mean, and Emily would put her foot down, but she let him back in repeatedly. Other times he was sweet, and would treat Emily well, then the arrogant guy would come back. It was an annoying roller coaster ride to be on.

This book had the potential to be a good read, but there was a lot of unnecessary drama thrown in and awkward twists that I cringed at. The sex scenes were plentiful, and in the end I was skipping over them to get to the storyline. Emily was an ok girl to like, I didn't care much for the Hero, and I actually liked his brother Tristan more. I would pick up his book to see if the author can redeem herself.

Here are a couple of moments where Jim/Jameson lays his feelings on the line for Emily

“Ask him if he feels like he might die if he doesn’t get to touch you again.”
I frown. “Why would I ask him that?” I whisper.
“Because there’s another man who does.” The phone clicks as he hangs up.

Kindle Page 75

“I’m in love with you, Emily Foster.” He leans in and kisses me slowly. His tongue swipes through my open lips with such emotion that I get a lump in my throat. “I can’t help it. I tried to stop it, and I couldn’t. I think I’ve loved you since our first night together in Boston. You stayed with me. I fought it, and still, I couldn’t forget you. I’ve been carrying your scarf around like a lovesick fool for more than a year.”

Originally from Sydney, I now reside in a dreamy beachside town on the South Coast of Australia with my hunk of a hubby, our three children and a menagerie of spoilt pets.

I love Margaritas, Chocolate and a swoony good book with a strong storyline. With a background in Mental Health, I write characters that you want to be friends with, strong alphas to fall in love with and witty women you want to be.

When I’m not writing you will find me in a cafe drinking coffee and eating cake.

Broken Knight by L.J. Shen ~ Review & Teaser (@lj_shen)

From USA Today and Washington Post bestselling author L.J. Shen comes a new, standalone romance about first loves, betrayal and loss.

Not all love stories are written the same way. Ours had torn chapters, missing paragraphs, and a bittersweet ending.

Luna Rexroth is everyone’s favorite wallflower.
Sweet.
Caring.
Charitable.
Quiet.
Fake.
Underneath the meek, tomboy exterior everyone loves (yet pities) is a girl who knows exactly what, and who, she wants—namely, the boy from the treehouse who taught her how to curse in sign language.
Who taught her how to laugh.
To live.
To love.

Knight Cole is everyone’s favorite football hero.
Gorgeous.
Athletic.
Rugged.
Popular.
Liar.
This daredevil hell-raiser could knock you up with his gaze alone, but he only has eyes for the girl across the street: Luna.
But Luna is not who she used to be. She doesn’t need his protection anymore.
When life throws a curveball at All Saints’ golden boy, he’s forced to realize not all knights are heroes.
Sometimes, the greatest love stories flourish in tragedy.

I've read a couple of L.J. Shen's books now, and when I came across this one, I was a little excited! I wanted to know the reasons why Luna didn't speak, the friendship between Luna and Knight and the protectiveness that he had for the girl who was so special to him.

Luna was a really sweet girl and she had a special bond with Knight, however they never managed to be on the same page at the same time. She ended up putting some space between them to grow into a stronger person. She didn't realise what effect that would have on Knight and the stress he was under.

Knight knew what he wanted, but never managed to get his girl. He was beginning to self destruct and became quite angry. He had issues at home that fuelled his downward spiral. There was a lot of push and pull between them, and he was quick to blame Luna when it came to the problems between them.

This was quite the angsty read, Luna and Knight went through a lot of hard times and some were heartbreaking. They were destined for one another, but it was a tough road getting there. I did feel that there was some unnecessary drama and at times Knight really annoyed me. In the end it was a good read, but not as mind blowing as another Shen book that I've read before.

All of these teasers made my heart ache! I had to share them all...

“I love you, Knight Cole. More than anything. Maybe even more than myself. But I don’t trust you with my heart. And when you hurt me like this, I feel little and vindictive. So vindictive, you shouldn’t trust me with yours. Whatever it is, we need to kill it before it kills us, you understand? We can’t be together.”

Kindle Page 33

“I love your brother and your father more than I love myself. I would die for them. Fight for them until the bitter end. Go against the whole world for them. But you…” She dragged her face up to look at me. Her eyes were full of tears. “I’ve always loved you just a tiny bit more. My regal, rebel boy. My legendary hellraiser, my sad prince, my unlikely savior, my beautiful, broken Knight.”

Kindle Page 225

“Why are you looking at me like that?” I panted. “Because,” he paused, swallowing, “I want to remember the moment you officially became mine.”

My daddy warned me never to fall for a boy like Jace Jacobs . . .
The second I saw him walk through the door, I knew he was trouble.
A gorgeous rebel with a bad attitude and a huge chip on his shoulder.

My heart warned me. I didn’t listen.
I fell hard and fast.
He promised we’d be together forever, and then left me with a broken heart.

Now, ten years later, Jace Jacobs is standing at my door.
Sexier than he’s ever been.
Provocative and commanding.
Successful and powerful.
The man I always knew he would become.
But I promised myself I’d never lose my heart to him again.

Even time couldn’t dim our chemistry. One glance of his intense eyes, and I become weak. One brush of his hand, and he brings me to my knees.

Little do I know, Jace holds the key to everything I’ve lost and everything that threatens my future.
Now he will either save me, or he will break me all over again . . .

I came across this one the other day and it sounded pretty exciting so I decided to dive straight into it. It was fun getting to know both Faith and Jace and realising the history they both had. I enjoyed being in this small town, but there was some darkness hiding there that I wanted to see unravel.

Faith had been through a lot in the past 10 years and it was sad seeing the roller-coaster her life had become. She had had grieved more than one person should, and Jace was one of those reasons. I liked seeing her be so confident and strong because she was not only protecting herself any more.

Jace had a tough life before leaving 10 years ago, but in recent years he had worked hard to become a successful business man. He came back to town because he knew something wasn't right after the loss of his cousin. I liked that he was so kind and was willing to do what he could to make Faith's life better and I knew that these two would fall for one another once again.

I've read A.L. Jackson in the past and although she is a great writer, however she never manages to blow me away. I find that sometimes the story drags out way too long and I get a little bored that I skip through some moments. I did enjoy the suspense element woven through this particular story, but I found it hard when the characters struggled with their feelings! I was thinking Argh! Grow a set, you are all adults! Anyway, if you like a slow build to a story, getting to know characters and seeing their relationships strengthen, you will enjoy this one!

Here are a couple of sweet moments between Faith and Jace... you could feel the chemistry oozing off the pages!

“Don’t do that,” he softly chided. His thumb moved to her lip that was tucked between her teeth, setting it free.
The skin tingled from his touch.
“Do what?” she whispered, her eyes wide and unsure.
“Make me want to kiss you.” Faith moaned.
Just from him saying it.

Kindle Page 127

“Faith,” he muttered. A warning and a question. Half a second later, those big hands landed on her neck, gliding up to tangle in her hair.
She gasped at the onslaught of sensation brought on by his touch.
But she wasn’t prepared. She wasn’t even close to being prepared for the way she would feel when his mouth slanted over hers.
His lips rough and smooth as they pressed against hers.
Slowly at first.
Giving and taking.
Testing and tasting.
Those butterflies shivered.
He edged her back until she was pinned against the wall of the house.

From New York Times bestselling authors Penelope Ward and Vi Keeland comes a new standalone novel.

It started out like any normal day.

Then the fender bender happened.

The guy I collided with drove an expensive car and was drop-dead gorgeous. Too bad he was also a total jerk. We argued over whose fault it was and any other thing that came out of his condescending mouth.

Eventually, the police came and we went our separate ways. The insurance companies would have to figure things out. I had a job interview to get to anyway--one I was excited about.

Though that excitement changed to disappointment the moment the person interviewing me walked in. The guy from the accident.

Whoops!

Yeah, so I didn't get the position.

The problem was, I really wanted it. No, I needed it. Anything to get me out of my current career and back into working with kids.

So, even though Hollis LaCroix was as intimidating as he was devastatingly handsome, I went back to see him and begged for a chance.

To my surprise, he gave me a shot taking care of his troubled niece.

At least my attraction to him wouldn't be able to go anywhere. I wasn't about to jeopardize my job or the strong bond Hailey and I formed.

But resisting the magnetic pull between us wasn't that simple. (Then there was our little underwear game--don't ask.)

We continued to flirt without crossing the line--until it finally happened.

This is the part of the story where we fall in love and live happily ever after, right?

Well, life has a way of throwing some major curveballs.

Ours was one I didn't see coming.

As always from this writing duo, I expected this story to start with a bang, and Park Avenue Player certainly started that way! I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know these characters and seeing the way they disliked each other to begin with, made me laugh! Elodie was a determined woman to make a better life for herself, and was not willing to give up her dream job easily.

The connection between Elodie and Hollis built slowly and it was sweet to see Elodie build that connection with Hollis' niece Kelsey. They had their own kind of friendship and it was good to see Kelsey get that womanly touch that she desperately needed.

I was so happy that Hollis decided to give Elodie a second chance, as it allowed them to work on the mixed feelings they had for one another. Hollis was such a take charge man and it was good to see that Elodie was able to have that kind of influence on him that would sway him to make the right decisions when it came to Kelsey.

The cat and mouse game between these two was laugh out loud funny... there was a panty incident or two that cracked me up, but Hollis was determined to keep Elodie away. My heart ached for her, but she wasn't going to give up without a fight!

I enjoyed how this story unfolded and the way Elodie and Hollis both fell for one another. They all built a connection, especially Elodie and Kelsey which helped to cement the relationship between Elodie and Hollis. I enjoyed the way the authors wove this story and created a situation that would pull on every mother's heart. Ward & Keeland sure know how to pull a reader into a world that we don't want to leave!

The chemistry was at boiling point between Hollis and Elodie, and I loved this moment between them!

“Let’s see. What do I owe you an apology for? Jerking off to your panties? Or maybe coming so hard in the shower to visions of your face that I can barely see straight afterward? Or could it be wanting to beat the crap out of every asshole guy named Benito in the city of New York? Which is it, Elodie? Will one big, fat apology do?”
There had been very few times in my life that I’d been left speechless, but right now I had no idea how to respond. My jaw hung open, and my heart felt like it might come through the wall of my chest.
Hollis’s eyes dipped to my lips, and I felt my knees go weak. He growled. “Fuck this.”
Before I could register what was happening, he wrapped his big hands around my face, tilted my head, and planted his lips over mine. It took a few heartbeats for the shock to wear off. But when it did, all hell broke loose.
