You’re not supposed to want the one who torments you.
When my stepbrother, Elec, came to live with us my senior year, I wasn’t prepared for how much of a jerk he’d be.
I hated that he took it out on me because he didn’t want to be here.
I hated that he brought girls from our high school back to his room.
But what I hated the most was the unwanted way my body reacted to him.
At first, I thought all he had going for him were his rock-hard tattooed abs and chiseled face. Then, things started changing between us, and it all came to a head one night.
Just as quickly as he’d come into my life, he was gone back to California.
It had been years since I’d seen Elec.
When tragedy struck our family, I’d have to face him again.
And holy hell, the teenager who made me crazy was now a man that drove me insane.
I had a feeling my heart was about to get broken again.

Holy hell! How I loved Stepbrother Dearest! I featured it as my Wow pick a few weeks ago because even though it had that kind of taboo feeling about it, I really knew I would enjoy it! And boy, am I happy that I purchased it! I fell for both characters, got swept away in the sexual tension and the emotion that came through the story line rocked me to the core!!
Stepbrother Dearest is told in two parts. Part one is when Elec first comes to live with his Father and his step family. Greta is a bit excited by having a sibling, but nothing prepared her for Elec. She was attracted to him from the beginning and all he did was torment her. It was highly amusing, but you could see the tension between them building. Part two is seven years later when their paths are forced to cross again; things are different between them, but still the same. I loved getting to see them again and seeing their reactions to one another. I also caught glimpses of what has happened between them in the years that they have been apart.
Greta was a great character to read about; she is a bit naïve in the beginning, but is willing to stand up for herself. She has some spunk and confidence and doesn’t back down from Elec. I really loved getting to know Elec too and even though he was a bit of a jerk, I could tell there was something that he was hiding that made him the bitter guy he was. When those details came to light, it wrecked me and I really felt for the boy Elec was and I was happy to see that he was able to build himself into the incredible guy that he is now. Greta shows affection to him in abundance, so it is no wonder why they form the connection that they do.
This is the first book of Penelope’s that I have read and I can tell you that I have become an instant fan! I loved every moment of reading Stepbrother Dearest and enjoyed the emotional ride she took me on. Most of this book was fun and it has a few sizzling moments as well. There are some heartbreaking times that have you emotionally attached to the story and characters. It is hard to express my love for this book, but I hope you all give it a crack. It is the first book that I have read in a while that I know will stay with me for some time. Go out and get it people!
