In Robin York’s provocative new novel, two young ex-lovers find themselves together again in the shadow of tragedy—and an intense, undeniable attraction.
Caroline still dreams about West. His warm skin, his taut muscles, his hand sliding down her stomach. Then she wakes up and she’s back to reality: West is gone. And before he left, he broke her heart.
Then, out of the blue, West calls in crisis. A tragedy has hit his family—a family that’s already a fractured mess. Caroline knows what she has to do. Without discussion, without stopping to think, she’s on a plane, flying to his side to support him in any way he needs.
They’re together again, but things are totally different. West looks edgy, angry at the world. Caroline doesn’t fit in. She should be back in Iowa, finalizing her civil suit against the ex-boyfriend who posted their explicit pictures on a revenge porn website. But here she is. Deeply into West, wrapped up in him, in love with him. Still.
They fought the odds once. Losing each other was hard. But finding their way back to each other couldn’t be harder.

I have been eager to read Harder because I was left hanging a bit at the end of Deeper and I wanted to know what Caroline and West were going to do next. You can see they belong together, but West can’t see how Caroline can fit in his world now. It is difficult and often frustrating, but I did enjoy how they came back together…
What I found with these two was that they were different when they were apart. West became toxic: cold and heartless. He did a really horrible thing that would’ve had me ranting and raving. Caroline took it in and put walls around it and casually gave him a piece of her mind. I certainly tipped my hat to her, because she has been through so much and is willing to be the bigger person.
Caroline is more independent, but you can see that she still wants West. She knows that he is the one and she can see that he is pushing her away. She has grown so much since I first met her, and I love how she has taken control of her life and is willing to fight for what she wants.
This book was more about West and the demons he has had to face, both from the past and the present. He needs to get past them to find the happiness he deserves. When he reconnects with Caroline, they become a great team and their passion hits new heights. I loved how Robin wrapped up this book; I was relieved that both Caroline and West were able to find happiness and peace. I am definitely going to read more of Robin’s work in the future!!
