*Sigh* What a great ending to a emotionally charged series!! I ventured into this series, not sure of what to expect, and ended up falling in love with all the characters and the world that Rachel Vincent created!! I am happy with the way things turned out, but I’m sad that it is all over!

All the characters have had to adjust to the new circumstances at the end of BIW, and Kaylee developed a lot of anger and wants to unleash it on one Hellion in particular, Avery. He has caused so much heart ache and pain for all of them and she plans on extracting revenge and they begin to plan how. Everyone involved have grown as people since we first met them and it was exciting to see them grow even more in this book. They are able to move past their grievances and support each other to achieve their goals.

Kaylee again shows how selfless she is. She is an amazing character and I adore her to pieces! She has had time to learn how to deal with Hellions and all that she has learned helps her so much in this book.  She has an amazing heart, and is able to fit everyone that she cares about in there. She is witty,

Tod is amazing support for Kaylee. He comes across as all arrogant and selfish, but Kaylee is his light. Some of the things he said to Kaylee made me tear up and it depresses me a little to say goodbye to him as well. He would do anything for Kaylee, as we have seen before, and in this book we understand the depth of those feelings.

I even have to say goodbye to all the sidekicks. Some of them I didn’t really like to begin with, but have grown to adore them by the end. The strength of their bonds with their parents and each other is something I loved about them all as well.

This book had everything I expected; lies, deceit, love, friendship and loss. I snickered, laughed, cried, but in the end I was amazed as to how the plan unfolded. I was on the edge of my seat until the very end and shed a tear as I read the final words. But all great things do come to an end, and what a fitting way to do it! Rachel Vincent, you are an astounding author and I cannot wait to see what fantasy world you unleash on us next!!

I received a copy of this book from Harlequin Australia in exchange for an honest review.

A resident of Oklahoma, Rachel Vincent has a BA in English and an overactive imagination, and consistently finds the latter to be more practical. She shares her workspace with two black cats (Kaci and Nyx) and her # 1 fan. Rachel is older than she looks-seriously-and younger than she feels, but remains convinced that for every day she spends writing, one more day will be added to her lifespan.

  1. So glad you liked this book, too! When I read it, I have to admit I sobbed like a baby. Both because of the emotions and because I was so sad that this was the last book. But, I couldn't think of a better way to end the series :)
