A WOMAN OUT FOR BLOOD
Nicole Martin was only eight years old when the vampire slaves rose up in rebellion and killed her family. Now she devotes her life to finding a vaccine against vampirism, hoping to wipe out her memories—along with every bloodsucker on the planet. But there’s one thing she cannot destroy: her searing, undeniable attraction for the one man she should hate and fear the most . . .

A VAMPIRE OUT FOR REVENGE
A member of the renegade vampire MoonBound Clan, Riker is haunted by demons of his own. When he recognizes Nicole and remembers how her family enslaved his loved ones, his heart burns for vengeance. But when he kidnaps Nicole and holds her in a secret lair, his mortal enemy becomes his soul obsession, his greatest temptation, and, perhaps, his only salvation—a hot-blooded lover who could heal him with her touch . . . or bury him forever.
This is the first book of Larissa Ione’s that I have read and I really enjoyed it. It has a different spin on the Vampire world – a more serious edge – and it takes us into a world where Vampires are treated badly and are made into slaves or experimented on. But even in this kind of world, opposites still attract, and there is still plenty of passion between the characters.

Nicole has no love for Vampires, due to circumstances that occurred when she was a child. Now that she has an active role in her father’s company back in the US, she is become the scapegoat for someone else’s plans. She is soon kidnapped by the very people she despises in exchange for the return of a valued Vampire. I understand Nicole’s reluctance to work with Vampires, but as we soon discover her judgement has been clouded. I was happy to see that she was able to open her mind to new possibilities and let someone in, even if it was the last person she suspected. She is a very smart and determined person, but a little naïve at times. But at the end of the day her loyalty is unquestionable!!

Riker comes across as a real tough guy. His life was shattered 20 years ago when his mate died and he has focused on the clans welfare and protects them at all costs. He is hell bent on revenge and will do anything in his power to bring the Martin family down. What he never expected was to develop feelings again, especially toward Nicole. Riker is a great guy and once you get past the walls he puts up you can see what a genuine person he is. He finds it hard to deal with his feelings and doesn’t understand what Nicole is doing to him.

I quite enjoyed this story and the spin Larissa has given to the Vampire genre. The “Wild” vampires actually live in clans, secluded from humans. They are hunted like animals and either killed on site or sold off to slavery. At times the plot was a little dark, but there is no denying the passion between Nicole and Riker and the sex scenes were sizzling. I am looking forward to the next book as the battle between clans and humans is far from finished!

I received a copy of this book from the Publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
