Thia is prim and proper.
Bear is leather and lawless.
It will never work between them.
It's a lie they almost believe.

Now that Soulless has been released, I decided it was time to begin Bear’s books in the King series. I loved him in the first two books and was excited to get his story, especially seeing what he went through and gave up in the end. I didn’t expect the girl for him would be someone from his past, and that glimpse into a younger Bear had me hooked and eager to continue reading.

Thia ended up on the Beach Ba$tards doorsteps after her whole world was shattered. Seeking the help of Bear she finds herself thrust into a dark world and in Chop’s clutches. With the help of an insider, she was soon with King and Ray. Ray contacted Bear, and with the help of King, they talk him into returning to help the pink haired girl from his past.

I loved seeing the relationship between Thia and Bear grow. Thia grew up quickly over her teenage years, having dealt with loss and mental issues in her family. She was hands on when it came to her family’s farm and worked a couple of jobs to help support them. She did what she could to survive. She let her walls down around Bear, found someone who cared for her and would do anything to protect her.

Bear… I’ve always loved him, and getting to see inside his head really showed me that he was a loyal and caring person. He has a strong friendship with King, and I could see the regret he had at letting Ray get away. But seeing him with Thia helped him find his way again. He was very protective of her and did everything he could to help her out of her situation. The sexual tension between Bear and Thia was intense. I could see that they both wanted one another, but fear was holding Bear back.

I really enjoyed Lawless and wasn’t expecting that to happen in the end. There were a few moments that had me on edge, as the danger to both Bear and Thia was constantly there. I liked seeing King and Ray again too, and their growing family. Throughout everything though, they support Bear and help him with every decision that he makes. There was a scene that was a bit to similar to what happened in King, that annoyed me… these men and pushing their girls away… but overall, I loved the book and I’m eager to grab Soulless to see what happens next!

This was the sweetest moment between Bear and Thia... my heart was aching for him!!

“Baby, I’m sorry,” he said dropping his forehead to mine in a rare moment of vulnerability. His voice was rough and shaky. “Help me. Please. I don’t know what I’m doing here.”
“What are you trying to do?” I asked. He raised up, just enough to look me in the eye.
“I’m trying to love you.”

One moment of recklessness will change their worlds

Smart. Responsible. That's seventeen-year-old Breanna's role in her large family, and heaven forbid she put a toe out of line. Until one night of shockingly un-Breanna-like behavior puts her into a vicious cyber-bully's line of fire—and brings fellow senior Thomas "Razor" Turner into her life.

Razor lives for the Reign of Terror motorcycle club, and good girls like Breanna just don't belong. But when he learns she's being blackmailed over a compromising picture of the two of them—a picture that turns one unexpected and beautiful moment into ugliness—he knows it's time to step outside the rules.

And so they make a pact: he'll help her track down her blackmailer, and in return she'll help him seek answers to the mystery that's haunted him—one that not even his club brothers have been willing to discuss. But the more time they spend together, the more their feelings grow. And suddenly they're both walking the edge of discovering who they really are, what they want, and where they're going from here.

After reading the first book in this series, I knew it was going to be a series that I wanted to continue. I enjoyed the introduction to the world and the characters and I was excited to read Razor’s book to understand why he was so closed off and quick-tempered.

Breanna was from a large family, she is the fifth child out of nine, and has always been the smart reliable one. When I first met her I could see that she wanted to be challenged by attending a new school, but her parents weren’t ready for her to go. She doesn’t push the issue and is resigned to how her life turns out to be. But I could see that she was unhappy and was often forgotten about or teased by her siblings. Her story really broke my heart, because she didn’t fit in at home or at school, she had a couple of close friends and just wanted to stand out for all the good reasons, but soon she found herself twisted up in an evil game with another student.

Razor is a prospect in the Reign of Terror motorcycle club, and still attending school. He is quite the serious character but often acts on his own before thinking things through. This spontaneity is why he’s not a full patched brother and why they don’t trust him. When he crosses paths with Breanna, he starts to have feelings that he hasn’t felt since the death of his mother, and all those unresolved issues resurface again.

Razor and Breanna’s relationship developed gradually. Razor saw past the smart girl to the struggling and sad girl underneath. Razor slowly opened up to Breanna and faced his demons. He was reckless to begin with but over time started to think things through. I liked that he wanted to help Breanna and his feelings grew for her, even though she was from a different world. Breanna learned to open up to someone and saw past the mask that Razor hid behind.

I enjoyed how the story unfolded and felt the turmoil that both characters were dealing with. I was glad to see Razor was able to grow and become a better person for himself, Breanna and his club. The relationship with his father was strained and all he wanted was answers. Breanna’s family often annoyed me as she was always pushed aside. I wanted to be there for her and give her the support she needed. I was glad that they found one another. Walk the Edge was a great follow up book in the Thunder Road series, the romance was sweet, with a gripping storyline, and a touch of suspense that made it hard to put the book down. I’m looking forward to continuing the series!!

Breanna just broke my heart... I had to share this to show you how meeting Razor changed how she felt about life and herself.

“I’ve hated Snowflake for so long,” she says. “But then I met you. And you’re the person this entire town has trashed, a person belonging to the group I’ve been raised to believe is evil, and you’re the only person who is able to make me feel as if every part of me is beautiful.”

I have been hanging for The Glittering Court... I just love Richelle Mead!! And I haven't read anything from Jenna Black before, keen to give this new series a try!
The Glittering Court (The Glittering Court, #1)
Title: The Glittering Court

Series: The Glittering Court #1
Genre: YA Fantasy
Expected Publication: April 5th 2016

A dazzling new fantasy series set in a mix of Elizabethan and frontier worlds that’s dripping with romance from Richelle Mead, #1 internationally bestselling author of Vampire Academy.

Big and sweeping, spanning the refined palaces of Osfrid to the gold dust and untamed forests of Adoria, The Glittering Court tells the story of Adelaide, an Osfridian countess who poses as her servant to escape an arranged marriage and start a new life in Adoria, the New World. But to do that, she must join the Glittering Court.

Both a school and a business venture, the Glittering Court is designed to transform impoverished girls into upper-class ladies capable of arranging powerful and wealthy marriages in the New World. Adelaide naturally excels in her training and even makes a few friends: the fiery former laundress Tamsin and the beautiful Sirminican refugee Mira. She manages to keep her true identity hidden from all but one: the intriguing Cedric Thorn, son of the wealthy proprietor of the Glittering Court.

When Adelaide discovers that Cedric is hiding a dangerous secret of his own, together, they hatch a scheme to make the best of Adelaide’s deception. Complications soon arise—first, as they cross the treacherous seas from Osfrid to Adoria, and later, when Adelaide catches the attention of a powerful governor.

But no complication will prove quite as daunting as the potent attraction simmering between Adelaide and Cedric. An attraction that, if acted on, would scandalize the Glittering Court and make them both outcasts in wild, vastly uncharted lands. . . .

Tempting the Bodyguard by J. Lynn ~ Audiobook Review & Teaser Tuesday (@JLArmentrout, @entangledpub)

It took a while, but I finally finished Tempting the Bodyguard. It is the third book in the Gamble Brothers series and it was an addictive book to listen to!

He can protect her from everyone except himself.

Alana Gore is in danger. A take-no-prisoners publicist, her way with people has made her more than a few enemies over the years, but a creepy stalker is an entirely different matter. She needs a bodyguard, and the only man she can ask is not only ridiculously hot, but reputed to have taste for women that goes beyond adventurous.

Chandler Gamble has one rule: don't protect anyone you want to screw. But with Alana, he's caught between his job and his increasingly hard libido. On one hand, Alana needs his help. On the other, Chandler wants nothing more than to take the hot volcano of a woman in hand. To make her writhe in pleasure, until she's at his complete mercy.

She needs protection. He needs satisfaction. And the moment the line is crossed, all hell will break loose...

Back in September 2015 I listened to half of Tempting the Bodyguard, but for some reason never got back to it. In February, I decided it was time to finish the book and did so in one day. Even though there was a good five months since I last put the book down, I was able to pick right up where I left off and enjoyed the rest of the story. It had some intense moments, but I enjoyed the growing attraction between Alana and Chandler, even though they were in denial in regards to their feelings toward one another.

Tempting the Bodyguard is the third book in the Gamble Brothers series and even though I haven’t read the previous books it was easy to pick this one up, as each book features a different brother. In this read it features the oldest brother Chandler, who has always looked out for his younger brothers and has finally found his match in Alana, his brother’s ex-publicist, who has come to him for his help after she has had threats made against her.

I liked seeing the attraction between Chandler and Alana as it grew slowly. They were both facing a serious problem, but each new threat brought them closer. Alana was afraid of getting too close to him and constantly tried to pull back, but Chandler was always there trying to keep her within his clutches. I enjoyed the intensity of the threats always being there too.

I don’t often listen to a lot of stories from the third person perspective lately, but I enjoyed how this story was told. It switched to each character, so I could get their perspective and see how they were feeling about one another. It was also the first book I listened to a book narrated by Kaleo Griffith, and I really liked how he told Chandler and Alana’s story. There was plenty of emotion in his voice and the story flowed smoothly.

Just like any book of Jennifer’s that I pick up, I was quickly swept away by her magnificent writing style. She has a way of capturing the reader so that it feels like you are right there with the characters, experiencing the danger and their emotions. I liked how I didn’t have to read the other books in the series to understand this one too. It was a fantastic read and now I want to go back and catch up on the first two books in the series.

Hehehe... this was a cheeky office moment between Alana and Chandler!! Love his naughty mouth!

Chandler rose, carefully tugging down her skirt. He lifted her off the desk, placing her on her feet. He held her to his chest, as if he knew there was a good chance her legs wouldn’t hold her. Pressing his lips to the corner of her mouth, he smiled devilishly. “That was the best damn dessert I’ve ever had.”

Magic Breaks by Ilona Andrews ~ Review & Quote-tastic (@ilona_andrews)

No matter how much the paranormal politics of Atlanta change, one thing always remains the same: if there’s trouble, Kate Daniels will be in the middle of it…

As the mate of the Beast Lord, Curran, former mercenary Kate Daniels has more responsibilities than it seems possible to juggle. Not only is she still struggling to keep her investigative business afloat, she must now deal with the affairs of the pack, including preparing her people for attack from Roland, a cruel ancient being with god-like powers. Since Kate’s connection to Roland has come out into the open, no one is safe—especially those closest to Kate.

As Roland’s long shadow looms ever nearer, Kate is called to attend the Conclave, a gathering of the leaders from the various supernatural factions in Atlanta. When one of the Masters of the Dead is found murdered there, apparently at the hands of a shapeshifter, Kate is given only twenty-four hours to hunt down the killer. And this time, if she fails, she’ll find herself embroiled in a war which could destroy everything she holds dear…

I am slowly catching up in the Kate Daniels series, and hope to get to read Magic Shifts soon, so I can grab Magic Binds as soon as it’s released in September. Magic Breaks was another thrilling instalment in the series; it was intense, full of action, and sweet moments between Kate and Curran. But by the end of the book my jaw hit the floor as the game has now changed!!

Things seem to be back to normal for Kate and Curran since their return from going to the Black Sea to secure the pancrea. Curran gets called away on a hunt and Kate needs to attend the Conclave, the meeting between the Pack and the People. But in true Kate Daniels style, nothing she does occurs without twists, and soon she’s trekking off to hunt down a murderer. With a loyal crew by her side she travels through Atlanta to the crime scene, so that she can prevent war between the Pack and the People.

I love every moment of being in this world! The storyline continues to suck me in and I get swept away fighting monsters, vampires and good old Hugh d’Ambrey! He’s still fascinated by Kate and seems to follow her everywhere. I love Curran and how fiercely he loves Kate and will tear the world apart to be by her side.

Ilona and Gordon, the masterminds behind this series, continue to blow me away with every book in this series. The world is remarkable, and they continue to create characters more gruesome than the last! The banter between all the characters is amusing, but also how loyal they are to one another and will fight until the death is remarkable. They have created a huge family dynamic that anyone would want to be a part of. But the bombshell at the end had my jaw hitting the floor and now I must get my hands on the next book!

I just love how much these two mean to one another! This scene showed me that Curran would do anything for Kate and cares for her deeply...

He smelled like Curran. He felt like him. I buried my face in the bend of his neck. His skin was so hot, it burned.
“Don’t die on me.” He kissed my face, pulling off his jacket. “Don’t die on me.”
I couldn’t stand. I just slumped there on top of the grate, holding on to him.
He wrapped me in his jacket, closed his arms around me, and jumped. Then we were in a narrow hallway. He carried me through it.
“I love you,” I told him. “I love you, too.” His voice was raw. “Stay alive, Kate.”

“Ilona Andrews” is the pseudonym for a husband-and-wife writing team. Ilona is a native-born Russian and Gordon is a former communications sergeant in the U.S. Army. Contrary to popular belief, Gordon was never an intelligence officer with a license to kill, and Ilona was never the mysterious Russian spy who seduced him. They met in college, in English Composition 101, where Ilona got a better grade. (Gordon is still sore about that.)
