They said write what you know so that's what I did. I wrote dirty, I wrote erotic, I wrote the truth.
And then they called me a liar. But it's not me who's lying, it's them.
Our story isn't for everyone. It's not even for us.
So if you're looking for the fairy tale and the stupid prince on his dumb white horse, move along. You've got a hold of the wrong book. This is not your story, this is not your life, and this is not your opportunity to dip your frightened little toe into the dark pool of water and "try new things" and then pull it out and decide... #NotForMe.
When you go in with us you go all in. So make a decision before you turn this page.
Because I'm making one promise with this book.
Just one.
We are The Dirty Ones and this is our truth.

If you have read J.A. Huss before you know she has a way to write stories that leave you mystified and thinking what-the? That is exactly what she has done with The Dirty Ones... she has blown my mind and left me stunned! You think the story is going in one direction when there's a twist thrown in and the book goes down a whole new path!

This story was told from two perspectives, Connor and Keira, however it features a group of people who were brought back together after 10 years as their past resurfaced. For Connor, it will end his career, and he was determined to get answers. He confronts Keira and all his feelings for her come rushing back. Soon the group reunites, and as they try to unravel the mystery, they find it hard not to fall back into their old ways.

This really was a boggling read! The mystery kept everyone on edge, and that intensity lead to many raunchy scenes! Honestly, I had to fan myself a few times as these people gave into their urges and desires. I was unsure of what was happening for a while and once the truth was revealed... BOOM! It was amazing!

J.A. Huss is an astonishing author, and she keeps producing these stories that keep us thinking! The characters have flaws, but I don't care! I just want to see how they work through their demons and become better people. This story had everything: mystery, intensity, deception, suspense, dirty but hot sex, lust, love, and so much more! It was the perfect package that I expect from Huss and I will be back for more!

I've got three teasers today to give you a glimpse into this world! It is hot and sexy, I tell ya!

“Connor loves us both, Kiera. But if he has to choose just one, he’s going to choose you. And hey,” she says, looking up. She’s crying for real now. A tear runs down her cheek. “I’d choose him over you, that’s what I was trying to say before. I like you, but he was all I ever wanted up in the tower. So what he just told me isn’t any different than what I just told you.”

Kindle Arc Loc 2251

“I guess that’s what I love about you,” Sofia says.
“What? What do you mean?”
“Underneath all that I-hate-everyone bullshit, you really are an optimist. Because we’re not fine. We’re so far from fine, it’s sad. Someone wrote a book about us, you guys. We’re in those pages.”

Kindle Arc Loc 2275

“Flip me over and fuck me hard, Mr. Arlington. Because if you don’t, I’ll walk away wanting more.”
“Maybe that’s what I’m after,” he whispers. “Maybe I don’t want you to love it. Maybe I want you to need more so next time you’ll see what’s missing.”

Prom King by Penny Wylder ~ Review & Quote-tastic (@PennyWylder)

Penny Wylder is a new to me author and I decided to give Prom King a go. It was a quick read, plenty of smexy moments with a little drama thrown in.

He was the hot popular guy. I was the nerdy girl with a fantasy crush. All of my childhood, I was invisible to Adam Carlisle. That was fine, because I was too shy, and too smart, to think I had a chance with the most popular guy in school.
Until someone crowned him prom king...
And me queen.
But it was only a cruel joke that ruined my self-esteem and broke my heart.
Ten years later and my friend begs me to attend our school reunion with her. I'm older, wiser, but still a nerd. This event is setting off my anxiety.
I want it to be over.
Then... I see him.
My prom king.
Adam is hotter than ever. But what really gets my attention?
He's staring right at me.
I'm not invisible anymore.
What happens when my fantasy crush becomes reality?

This full-length novel is all about second chances, true love, and a crazy hot alpha realizing that the nerdy girl is his modern day Cinderella. NO cheating, lots of kindle-melting action, and always a happily ever after!

If you are looking for a whirlwind, second chance romance with lots of intimate moments then this is the read for you. There was a bit of drama thrown in to stir the plot, but overall it was and entertaining and sexy read.

Ollie struggled with what happened in her high school days, but had grown into a successful and happy woman. However, her friend Lorraine talks her into going to their high school reunion and Ollie becomes the nervous girl she once was. When she crosses paths with Adam, her high school crush, and realises their feelings were mutual, they were quick to hit the sheets!

I really enjoyed watching Ollie and Adam’s relationship blossom, and they fell for one another hard and fast. There was a little drama, as I mentioned and it made me roll my eyes at times, like seriously, your a grown man, fix your mistakes! But in the end I loved how Ollie fought for what she wanted and wouldn’t back down.

Prom King was a pretty light read that I devoured in two sittings. There was a lot of sex once these two got started, so if you like that in a read, you’ll devour this book. For my first Penny Wylder read, I was quite impressed, and I look forward to reading more of her work in the future.

Just a couple of little moments that made my heart flutter a little 😜

“I’ve been thinking about you, Ollie.”
I try to ignore the way my breath catches in my chest. “Probably just the reunion. I imagine you’ve been thinking about everybody in our class.”
“No. I’ve been thinking about you for a long time. I actually never stopped.”

“You can let me go now.”
“Why would I ever do that?”

P.S. I Miss You by Winter Renshaw ~ Review & Quote-tastic (#WinterRenshaw)

This was a fun, light read that I really enjoyed. I liked watching the attraction between Melrose and Sutton grow!

Dear Melrose,

The first time I met you, you were a stranger. The second time, you were my roommate. The third time, you made it clear you were about to become the biggest thorn my side had ever known.

You sing way too loud in the shower and use all the hot water.

You’re bossy as hell.

You make my life all kinds of complicated.

But no matter how hard I try, I can’t stop thinking about you.

Truthfully … I can’t stop wanting you.

I was going to tell you this. I was going to sit you down, swallow my pride, hang up my noncommittal ways and show you a side of me you nor anyone else has ever seen before … but then there was a game-changing confession; a bombshell so nuclear it stopped me in my tracks.

How I didn’t see this coming, I’ll never know.

Sutter

P.S. I miss you.

It'd been a while since I've read a book by Winter Renshaw, and the P.S. series has been on my radar for a while so I decided to snap this one up. This book had me a little annoyed about some aspects, but overall it was quite enjoyable, and I definitely would read more in this series!

This book had it's good moments and it's not so good moments. I really enjoyed the enemies to lover aspect, as I watched Melrose and Sutton bicker with each other. I could see that their attraction was growing and I couldn't wait for them to fall for one another.

What I didn't like was how Melrose was so hung up on Nick, he was a bit of a jerk actually and should've stayed, firmly, in the friends column! I also didn't like how easy it was for Sutton to step aside when things got hard. He did it a couple of times and I was like WTF! Fight for her you jerk!

Other than that I did enjoy this read, I liked meeting Sutton's brother and watching both Melrose and Sutton interact with him. It saddened me that Sutton carried so much guilt when it came to his brother, but Melrose helped him see that he was a good person and could do so much for him. I liked the change in Melrose, and seeing her fall for someone that wasn't Nick. I really hope I can read more from this world in the future!

I've got two little teasers today... as he Sutton realises that Melrose is someone he wants.

I fully expected to meet a Bel-Air princess today, a junior Paris Hilton with an entitlement complex. What I got was a whip smart beauty who wasted no time putting me in my place.
And that’s … if I’m being completely honest with myself … really fucking hot.

Kindle Loc 283

“Go upstairs.” Sutter leans in and speaks against my ear, voice low despite the fact that no one else can technically hear us. “I’m not done with you yet.”
I bite a half-smile and linger, debating whether or not to indulge his wishes. But it doesn’t take long for me to accept the fact that I want this release as much as he does.
“Fine,” I say. “But only because I want to. Not because you’re telling me to.”

The Marriage Contract by Katee Robert ~ Review & Quote-tastic (@katee_robert)

This was a fun beginning to a series that I can't wait to get more of! It was intense, and I loved how even though Teague and Calli were thrust into the marriage, they actually fell for one another.

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Katee Robert begins a smoking hot new series about the O'Malley family-wealthy, powerful, dangerous and seething with scandal.

Teague O'Malley hates pretty much everything associated with his family's name. And when his father orders him to marry Callista Sheridan to create a "business" alliance, Teague's ready to tell his dad exactly where he can stuff his millions. But then Teague actually meets his new fiancée, sees the bruises on her neck and the fight still left in her big blue eyes, and vows he will do everything in his power to protect her.

Everyone knows the O'Malleys have a dangerous reputation. But Callie wasn't aware just what that meant until she saw Teague, the embodiment of lethal grace and coiled power. His slightest touch sizzles through her. But the closer they get, the more trouble they're in. Because Callie's keeping a dark secret-and what Teague doesn't know could get him killed.

I actually got this one as an audio-book freebie, and I must admit I thoroughly enjoyed it! It was intense, the chemistry was hot, and the suspense had me on edge! These Mafia reads really hook me, and I like that this one had a real danger element in it! I was on edge and experienced a few tough times for all families involved.

Both the O'Malley family and the Sheridan family were hard core families and were willing to remain strong by forming alliances. Even though Teague and Callie weren't ready to be married, they were willing to do anything to try and prevent war.

I liked how quick Teague and Callie formed their connection, and how their life paths took a turn they didn't expect. They were craving company from one another although they hadn't been together long. They both faced some tough times and I thought they were stronger together.

I really enjoyed the narration by Charlotte North, she portrayed all the characters well and drew me into the world and kept me hooked. I enjoyed Katee Robert's writing style and the emotion she wove through the pages as well as showing me the connections that all three families have. I'm looking forward to how some of these relationships will develop in future books, as they were intense in this read!

This was an interesting little twist, I hope it has you intrigued.

“Didn’t arranged marriages go the way of the dinosaurs a couple decades ago?”
“Maybe for other families. Not for ours.”
He knew that. Fuck,he wished he didn't know it so well. The rules of polite society were different for his family than they were for your average Joe. He’d learned a long time ago that the money and connections came with more strings than a spider’s web. And walking away wasn't an option, because that same money and those connections would be ruthlessly deployed to bring any prodigal sons or daughters back into the fo1d—whether they wanted to come or not.
Teague took a healthy swallow of the whiskey. “You can’t seriously be asking me to marry some woman I‘ve never met from a family we were raised to hate."
"I‘m not." Aiden paused, and it was like the whole room held its breath. "Father is.”

Her 2015 title, The Marriage Contract, was a RITA finalist, and RT Book Reviews named it "a compulsively readable book with just the right amount of suspense and tension." 1986: Rebecca Essig leaves a slumber party early but comes home to a massacre—committed by her own parents. Only one of her siblings has survived. But as the tragic event unfolds, she begins to realize that other than a small army of six-year-olds, she is among very few survivors of a nationwide slaughter.

The Reaping has begun.

Present day: Pregnant and on the run with a small band of compatriots, Delilah Marlow is determined to bring her baby into the world safely and secretly. But she isn’t used to sitting back while others suffer, and she’s desperate to reunite Zyanya, the cheetah shifter, with her brother and children. To find a way for Lenore the siren to see her husband. To find Rommily’s missing Oracle sisters. To unify this adopted family of fellow cryptids she came to love and rely on in captivity.

But Delilah is about to discover that her role in the human versus cryptid war is destined to be much larger—and more dangerous—than she ever could have imagined.

Fury was a heartbreaking, but perfect way to end the Menagerie series. Although this world was pretty intense, I loved being back with the characters that I have come to love. During Fury, the characters weren't held captive, but they were isolated non-the-less; flying under the radar and trying to figure out a way to make their predicament better.

I enjoyed how this instalment was delivered, between the past and the present, so we could better understand the reaping and realise how it connected to the current situation. As the story unfolded, I clicked about a few things and I was excited to see how it all came together.

I loved seeing Delilah and Gallagher together as they prepared for the arrival of their baby. They spent a lot of time together and I could see that their bond was becoming deeper. Gallagher was still fiercely protective of Delilah and would protect her from anything, even herself. It was good to see them fighting for their fellow cryptids, freeing those that had been captured, but not without casualties.

This really was a thrilling ending to the series, as I watched all the characters struggle. They wanted a safe world to be in, and danger was coming to them. There were a lot of events that put more focus on the cryptids, and as the gang put the pieces together they figured out what needed to be done. I was so emotionally invested in this story that I shed a few tears, and my heart broke a few times. It was a powerful and satisfying end to the series, and the epilogue gave me hope! I applaud you, Rachel Vincent, for another spectacular series!

This tease here made me smile, as Gallagher tried hard to hide his feelings, while Delilah demanded more!

“This isn’t about what I want,” he growled, and the gravelly depth of his voice seemed to echo with equal parts pain and anger. Frustration.
“Well, then, what about what I want?”
He considered that for a moment. “What do you want?”
“I want you to tell me the truth.”
“I’ve never lied to you.”
“Semantics. I want the whole truth. Am I nothing more to you than an obligation? A debt you owe the world? Am I just some way for you to pay the universe back for the air you breathe and the blood you soak up? Am I—?”
“You are everything.”
