Opposites in every way . . . except the one that matters

Shaw Landon loved Rule Archer from the moment she laid eyes on him. Rule is everything a straight--A pre-med student like Shaw shouldn’t want--and the only person she’s never tried to please. She isn’t afraid of his scary piercings and tattoos or his wild attitude. Though she knows that Rule is wrong for her, her heart just won’t listen.

To a rebel like Rule Archer, Shaw Landon is a stuck-up, perfect princess-and his dead twin brother’s girl. She lives by other people’s rules; he makes his own. He doesn’t have time for a good girl like Shaw-even if she’s the only one who can see the person he truly is.

But a short skirt, too many birthday cocktails, and spilled secrets lead to a night neither can forget. Now, Shaw and Rule have to figure out how a girl like her and a guy like him are supposed to be together without destroying their love . . . or each other.
Just from reading the blurb I knew this book was going to be fun!! Rule, the tattoo artist getting together with Shaw, the pre-med student and the girl he’s known for years, was always going to be a disaster, a blessing or both. But little do they realise that even though they are so different from the outside, that they are so similar on the inside. It is an intense, steamy and sweet story that you need to try ASAP!!

I really enjoyed meeting Rule and indulging in his world of tattoos and piercings. He is a hot-headed guy who is not afraid to be his true self and speak his mind. He has that bad-boy persona that I really like and that dark edge that keeps you wanting more. He never truly looked at Shaw, until his older brother and friends started talking about her and he began to see her in a whole other light.

Shaw lived for years under the guise of Remy’s girlfriend to protect his secret. She was happy to do so and love Rule from afar. Every Sunday she went out of her way to pick Rule up and take him to his parents for Sunday lunch because they have been her family for so long now too. Her own family are arrogant asses that use her as a tool rather than their own flesh and blood. So Shaw was willing to pick up Rule – even when he was kicking girls out of his bed – just to spend that little time with him.

Rule is a compelling read that I really enjoyed. There are a few twists in the plot, one of which has you looking over your shoulder at times. I liked Jay’s writing style and how we were able to see both Rule and Shaws perspectives. The characters have great chemistry and it was good to see how Shaw was able to grow more as a person with Rule in her life and how Rule saw the world differently when Shaw was around too. I am glad we get to see more from this world in future books, as Rules friends and brother all get their own books too.

So when I first read the series name I thought it said "Naked Men" and was like "alright Naomi!" lol. Anyway this marked marked men series still sounds pretty great - I love the wrong for each other stories because 1- they are the perfect set up for heart rending scenarios and 2- that's me and my bf of almost 9 years and I can usually relate in some level. Adding to my tbr - great review!
