My Review

Tethered by Fate was a revealing second book in the Alyx Rayer Chronicles and I thought it was highly entertaining. It is a totally different book than Marked For Vengeance where the two main characters spend most of the book battling their feelings for one another on the human world. Now they are thrown onto a different dimension and learn about their new powers and gifts and the role that they will play in regards to saving the world and ridding it of evil.

Alyx isn't your typical angel as she still has a piece of humanity still inside her, unlike her fellow angels. She still needs to eat, drink and sleep and she is finding it hard to keep her differences secret from everyone. The most important detail is that she is still bonded to her mark. Alyx is a good person but she is struggling with her guilt over what happened to Izaak on the journey to the new dimension.

Since coming to this new dimension, Izaak is still struggling with the injuries that he received and they are taking a long time to heal. His gift doesn't come back immediately and he also struggles with his emotions too. His son Micah keeps him grounded and makes him see things in a better light. When his gift does return, he documents everything down and hopefully they will be able to work together to accomplish it.

I enjoyed how this story played out with the characters learning more about why they were picked to be saved as they have a special gift that will be useful to save earth. The Angels need to work together and test their limits. The Angels also meet their Warrior Mates, even Alyx, which becomes another challenge for her.

I enjoyed this book immensely and couldn't help but read it all in a day. I learnt a lot about all of the characters and watched as they all struggled with their emotions. We see more of the new characters, some of which we briefly met in the first book, some of them I liked, others, not so much. I liked how the prophecy played out but I didn’t like where most of the characters headed in the end of the book. I was hoping that they would support Alyx more in the next book, but we will just have to wait and see!! It will be exciting to see what Alyx will do in the final book.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

As a matter of fact, her first publishing credit was a poem she wrote at the age of twelve. Why her love for writing never translated into a career, she can only attribute to ‘life happens’, but her wish is that she can redirect her career path into something that satisfies her creative inner-self.
