Book Description

Ryan lowers his lips to my ear. "Dance with me, Beth."

"No." I whisper the reply. I hate him and I hate myself for wanting him to touch me again....

"I dare you..."

If anyone knew the truth about Beth Risk's home life, they'd send her mother to jail and seventeen-year-old Beth who knows where. So she protects her mom at all costs. Until the day her uncle swoops in and forces Beth to choose between her mom's freedom and her own happiness. That's how Beth finds herself living with an aunt who doesn't want her and going to a school that doesn't understand her. At all. Except for the one guy who shouldn't get her, but does....

Ryan Stone is the town golden boy, a popular baseball star jock-with secrets he can't tell anyone. Not even the friends he shares everything with, including the constant dares to do crazy things. The craziest? Asking out the Skater girl who couldn't be less interested in him.

But what begins as a dare becomes an intense attraction neither Ryan nor Beth expected. Suddenly, the boy with the flawless image risks his dreams-and his life-for the girl he loves, and the girl who won't let anyone get too close is daring herself to want it all.....

My Review

I have really fallen for the Contemporary Romance books lately and after reading Pushing the Limits I knew I had to continue on in this series. Dare You To is different from most of the books I’ve read as the roles are reversed. We have the bad girl and the good guy. Oh it was so much fun!!

Beth we met in Pushing The Limits; she is the kind of girl who likes to drown her problems behind with alcohol or pot. Her dad is gone, her mother is an alcoholic with a nasty-assed boyfriend. So she spends her time living with her aunt who really doesn’t care for her. The only constant people in her life are her friends Noah and Isaiah. Beth is the type of girl who throws her anger out there to hide how fragile she is and has the hard looks to cover how scared she truly is. I really felt sorry for her as her secrets came out and you realise how tough her life as been.

Ryan is a new character from a quiet town and his life has been set up for him; he has been groomed by his father to become a pro baseball player once he finishes high school. Even though it looks like he has the perfect family, things are not all peachy at home. If not for his friends and teammates he would have nothing left to turn to. I really liked Ryan from the first time we met him, secretly thinking where I could get one just like him!! He is confident and knows what he wants in life.

Dare You To deals with a lot of dark issues that affect some people today. We touch on abuse, drugs and sexuality and how it can affect your life and those around you. So much of the characters lives are affected by the people around them and they need to work through their trust issues so that they can make their lives their own. It was a very emotional story and how it unfolded was beautiful. I loved the whole story and I am super keen for Isaiah’s book ~ Crash Into You…

I received a copy of this book from Harlequin Australia via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

  1. agggghhhhh!!! You know, I have both of these on galley too - and I've not read either one!!! I SO want to, too! Your review is fantastic, and it is only pushing these up on my TBR. Ok, so I'm like eons behind on the first one, but we don't need to tell anyone that, right? :)
