The Blurb

What if you knew when someone was going to die?

For seventeen-year-old Ember, life is death. With a simple touch, she knows when someone will die. It’s her curse and the reason she secludes herself from the world. The only person who knows her secret is her best friend Raven.

Then she meets Asher Morgan. He’s gorgeous, mysterious, and is the only person Ember can't sense death from. So when he pushes into her life, she doesn’t mind.

But when unexplained deaths start to haunt her town, Ember starts questioning why she can’t sense Asher's death and what he may be hiding.

My Review

This is not my usual paranormal type of book, but when I read the blurb for Ember, I thought, this sounds like a really good read. You know what, it wasn't good, it was FANTASTIC!! I was captured by the story immediately, because what would you do if you couldn't touch anyone without knowing how they will die..... How alone would you feel.... I'm sure I couldn't handle it.

To read about Embers story was totally amazing. She had a lot to deal with when she was young. Started with a happy family, but things soon went bad, when her parents split, she was shipped off to her dads until he passed and has never really had a stable home life. Everyone around her seems to be mentally affected, mostly depression.

I connected to Ember immediately, but she is quite withdrawn and loves to spend time at the cemetery as most people are dead that reside there, so she doesn't have to worry about death omens. She puts all her emotions onto paper into poems and is very passionate. Ember still has some support however, in her best friend Raven and brother Ian. But things are about to get shaken up big time in the small sleepy town. A few new people move to town (ahem.. Good looking ones too) and Embers world is thrown upside down.

I was kept in suspense the whole way through, as the story unravelled I was unsure of who Ember was able to trust. We are introduced to the world of death. Grim Reapers, Grim Angels and Angels of Death ...... But who is who? Who can you trust? Who is good and who is evil? It's what Ember needs to find out.

Two guys in particular confuse Ember. Neither of them have death omens, they are both hot drop dead gorgeous and Ember has an attraction to both of them. They are both seriously hot and complete opposites of the other. Considering that she doesn't like to associate with others it is unusual for her to find not one person, but two people she is able to relax around. But Embers life has always had conflict, so of course she finds it difficult to juggle the two guys.

Jessica Sorensen has written a fabulous story which has only just begun. Embers life is only going to get more complicated in future books and I can't wait to see what is in stall next. There is plenty of action, swoon moments and mystery to keep you guessing. I loved this book and I can't wait for more!

I have not read any books by Jessica, but this one sounds like a good one to start with. I would hate to know how everyone would die. gah! I especially wouldn't want to touch any family or friends.... maybe a few ex's ;) They could get a grab LOL. Kidding... maybe. Great review, I'm sold! I can't wait to read it.
