Review: Madly by M. Leighton

Title: Madly
Author: M. Leighton
Series: Madly #1
Published Date: June 2011

Book Description

Madly is your average nearly-eighteen year old girl—for a princess, that is.

Madly James is thoroughly enjoying her internship in the small town of Slumber when the unthinkable happens—there’s a prison break in Atlas, the magically-protected home of Madly’s race. A traitor has set free eight Lore, the spirits of what humans know as fairy tales, and they are making their way to Slumber to awaken their descendants.

In order to save her home, the lives of her family, and all of humanity, Madly must learn to wield her exceptional powers and recapture the Lore before it’s too late and all is lost. But Madly’s only help are her two best friends and the Sentinel, Jackson Hamilton, that threatens both her heart and her destiny. Madly has loved Jackson as long as she can remember, but he is the one thing even a princess can’t have. Can she resist love to become the queen she was fated to be? Or can she find a way to have both?

This novelette introduces you to Madly and prepares you for the quest of a lifetime

My Review

What a fun way to start the series! The only issue that I had was that it was over way too soon!! Things were just getting interesting.... then it was over! Argh!! No wonder I love M.Leighton’s writing so much, she gets me hooked, then bang.. she does that too me! Now I must get book two to see what happens!!

It was a great introduction to all of the characters, all of which I really liked. Madly, (what a great name) is a pretty laid back kind of girl, with a great sense of humour. Her best friend’s are Jersey, who has spunk and is pretty adventurous, and Aidan who is cute but very cautious. They are a great mix of people and they all work in well together. Then we have Jackson (Yum) who is now Madly’s Sentinel, her protector. Madly used to have a massive crush on him, but that was before he left three years ago to train to become a sentinel.

I’m not going to expand on the book, as it is only a short story, but it was an enthralling read. It is a great build up for the next books in the series and a great way to meet the characters. It will be even better once the real action kicks in! I can’t wait!

About the Author....

M. Leighton is a native of Ohio, but she relocated to the warmer climates of the South, where she can be near the water all summer and miss the snow all winter. Possessed of an overactive imagination from early in her childhood, Michelle finally found an acceptable outlet for her fantastical visions: writing fiction. Thirteen of Michelle's novels can now be found on Amazon, as well as several other sites. She's currently working on sequels, though her mind continues to churn out new ideas, exciting plots and quirky characters. Pick one up and enjoy a wild ride through the twists and turns of her vivid imagination.

About Michelle:  I love coffee and chocolate, even more so when they are combined.  I'm convinced that one day they could be the basis for world peace.  I also love the color red and am seriously considering dying my hair.
