My Review

The Prologue starts with a doctor in his lab who has run experiments on mice and gave them all supernatural powers. From that opening I was excited! I thought this is going to be a fun story and I wasn't disappointed.

Fast forward 18 years into the future, we find that the doctor ran the experiment on pregnant women and the children are all bought together to figure out the changes that may have occurred to them. The experiment was lost when the doctor died but now it is out in the open. The children are unaware of anything unusual but they are grouped together to see what happens.

Clio is a bit of a loner, she lacks confidence and in this military facility she finally feels like she belongs and is able to form some great friendships. I love it when a girl can talk to most guys and can be fine with it, but when they try to talk to one they do find attractive they get all tongue tied and when they do speak it's all witty remarks, that's what happens with Clio. It is funny to imagine her trying to deal with this guy and all that is coming out of her mouth is sarcasm!

I really liked all Clio's friends, Bliss is her closest friend and the girls connected immediately, Miranda forced her way into the group and is very abrupt, but they tolerate her anyway. Jack is good looking and can juggle fruit! Seriously! And Gareth gives Clio a run for her money with the smart come-backs! It's amusing to watch them interact.

But there is a bigger story behind just this experiment and Clio and her new friends decide to figure it out. This is where they start to step out of their comfort zones and work together. Clio discovers some things from her past but is able to move on to find out who she truly is.

Solid was an enjoyable read, and again I was absorbed into the plot. Shelley has done a fabulous job telling the story. It has plenty of humour, a good story line and one of the most romantic dates I've ever read! Now I must get book 2 to see what will happen next!

I received this book from the Author for an honest review.
