Eighteen year old Pride is a tracker with a hunger for blood. Taught to trick and to lure, she is the perfect killing machine.

Kept leashed in the cellar by a master who is as ruthless as he is powerful, Pride dreams of freedom, of living a normal life, but escape from the compound is near impossible and disobedience comes with a price.

When she learns her master intends to breed her she knows she has to run.

Pride soon learns if she is to survive in the wild, she must trust in the boy who promises her freedom, the same boy she was sent to hunt.

I have had Pride's Run sitting on my kindle for so long and I finally decided it was time to get into it. It has been a long time since I have read a shifter book and I enjoyed diving into Pride’s dark and twisted world as she tried to make her escape.

I liked Pride; she was a determined girl who wants to break away from her master and where she has been confined all of her life. It’s a harsh way for any person to grow up in and it was sad to see the inhumane way they were all treated; kept confined and treated like animals. When an opportunity presented itself, I was glad to see her grab hold of it considering the danger she was in.

When Pride got away she was running with Logan, the boy who happened to be her assignment. I liked watching these two cautiously get to know one another. It’s extremely hard for Pride to trust anyone, so I liked the gentle way that Logan showed her that he would help and protect her. Logan was a really sweet guy but he’s also a very strong and dominant alpha. I could see that his attraction was growing even though Pride was oblivious to it, because she feels that boys never look at her.

Pride’s Run was an action packed read that constantly had me on edge because of the danger continuously following them. Pride had to learn how to survive in the cold mountains and to use her inner animal to her advantage. The romance was slow building and there were a few twists thrown in to keep you guessing how it will all turn out. The book ends on a bit of a cliff hanger, and the next books aren’t available at this time. I hope I get to find out what happens, because I was getting drawn into the dangerous and intense end to the story and I need to see how Pride got out of that situation!

Complimentary copy provided by the Publisher, via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

“I thought I was going to have to go feral and fight them off.” A strange laugh rises in my throat. “I hardly think…” I begin, but my voice fails when he leans forward and presses his lips to the scars at the base of my neck. The warmth of his mouth burns my blood. I suck in a sharp breath and try not to explode into a million tiny pieces.
He traces my scar with his lips, the caress meant to soothe the years of pain. “No one is ever going to hurt you again,” he growls under his breath and holds me tight. His glance moves over my face and his eyes turn deadly when he says, “If they try, they’ll have to go through me.”

  1. Oh I like the dynamic of this relationship. I am a fan of mistrust at the beginning, sort of measuring each other's worth. I can only imagine the eventuality/consummation of the relationship. Lol.

  8. I vaguely remember adding this book to Goodreads but it was literally years ago... I'm definitely still interested in reading it and now that I've seen your review I might try and get my hands on a copy. I especially like the sound of Logan, with the combination of an alpha and a sweet guy ;) Thanks for reminding of Pride's Run and great review!

  9. Oh jeez, I didn't realize it was a shifter book at first, so I was thinking it was really weird and effe up for a regular girl to go through. But then I saw what the series is called. lol. I mean, it's still messed up, but not as strange.

  22. Well you sold me! I just bought it but now I am wondering-if she wrote this in 2011 and never finished the series, it's going to make me mad especially how you said it ended. Let me know if you find out about the other books please. Thanks!

  23. I think she was picked up by a publisher. The second one is available now. Carmel has read them all and my friend Liz @ Fictional Candy... So it's just a matter of time!
