"We met in a nightmare. The in-between world where time had no power over reason. We fell in love. We fell hard. But then we woke up. And it was over . . ."

RUIN & RULE

She is a woman divided. Her past, present, and future are as twisted as the lies she's lived for the past eight years. Desperate to get the truth, she must turn to the one man who may also be her greatest enemy . . .

He is the president of Pure Corruption MC. A heartless biker and retribution-deliverer. He accepts no rules, obeys no one, and lives only to reap revenge on those who wronged him. And now he has stolen her, body and soul.

Can a woman plagued by mystery fall in love with the man who refuses to face the truth? And can a man drenched in darkness forgo his quest for vengeance-and finally find redemption?

I haven’t read any of Pepper Winter’s books before, so when I saw Ruin & Rule I knew I had to read it! I wanted to see what twists were in this book that kept them apart, and finding it so hard to get back together.

It is hard to review this book without giving away the major twist, which is not mentioned in the blurb. It’s kind of glossed over and I liked seeing this particular element unravel before my eyes. I liked how the main female character – whose name is not revealed immediately, so I’m not going to disclose either – dealt with what she was going through. Even though any person in her situation would be trembling in her boots, she was calm and knew when to react and what to do.

Kill… I loved his dominance! He is a strong leader and has been through so much and slowly I was able to get more glimpses into the man he is and what he had been through. He lost so much but has managed to set up a plan for revenge, but could not see past the lies to the soul of the woman in front of him. I admit, it was heartbreaking and knowing what emotional turmoil he had been through, I would be sceptical too!

I loved seeing Kill with the female lead; they really were good together, despite the battle in Kill’s mind that he was struggling with. I could see the hate, confusion and lust, but he was trying to seek the truth. Despite his best attentions, he occasionally let his walls down, so she could see past the hardened man he was.

Ruin & Rule scrapes the surface on some dark elements throughout the story. I didn’t feel that is was overly dark, I was more held in suspense and felt the intensity that the characters were going through. No doubt that the characters have a connection that runs deep and they are definitely hot together. I really enjoyed the story, despite ending on a cliffhanger, and I am excited to get more. The second book, Sin & Suffer, will be action packed blood bath, I think, and I want it now!

Great review, Naomi! I had the same thoughts as you on not revealing the main female character's name in my review. Thought it would be a major spoiler, until I went to grab some teasers from Pepper Winter's FB page and seen a teaser with the main female name. LOL

  3. Ooh, this one sounds especially good. I love a dominant MC - if the dominance makes sense, which here sounds like it does. And I'm curious about the mysterious female lead too... :)

  5. Oh well. If there's any character whose name matches his personality, I guess it would be him. :) I'm curious and scared of this book. Lol.

  14. Really? Well you are naughty then! Get onto her books! If others are like this, she is pretty talented! It's not too dark, not like some we've read *wink* I hope you get to it soon, and won't have to hold out for the next book like me!

  15. After watching all the cheesy 1970's Hell's Angels movies, I have steered clear of the whole biker book thing-although I think I have one. I guess I need to rethink my thinking and actually read one. Glad this was a good one for you!

  16. Mikki loves Pepper Winters! You have me curious about the major twist and why the female character's not named right away. I like that they two characters had a deep connection. I hope the male character doesn't give in to his revenge, and realizes the good soul of the woman he cares about! Great Review Naomi :)
