Feature and Follow #27 - Confess Your Blogger Sins!

Feature & Follow is a blog hop hosted by Parajunkee & Alison Can Read. The purpose is to meet new people and gain more followers in the book blogging community. If this is your first time here, welcome! You are about to make some new friends and gain new followers — but you have to know — the point of this hop is to follow other bloggers also. I follow you, you follow me.

Here’s this week’s question:

Confess your blogger sins! Is there anything as a newbie blogger that you've done, that as you gained more experience you were like -- oops?

When I first started blogging I tried to review too much. I signed up for lots of book tours and tried to review most of them. I took on way too many reviews from authors and I applied for too many books through NetGalley. Now I am trying to be more selective when it comes to books and try to get the books that I want to read because it may just turn me off otherwise!! Things are getting a bit easier now.

What do you think?

What's your FF?

  2. Okay, sorry for the noob question, but how do blog tours work, exactly? I got an email invite from someone to join a book blog host tour, and when I asked for more details I didn't receive any reply :D Hehe.

  3. Tours, tours. Man, I have such a bad taste in my mouth from them cause I overdid it. I was doing 3-4 a week and all reviews! YIKES! I'm so happy that you've got your reviews under control. I'm still trying to tame mine, but it keeps bucking!

  4. I agree about taking on too much. I've had those moments and it makes it difficult to enjoy what you're reading when it's under pressure. But Hey Naomi, your reviews are great and you are doing an awesome job.

Thanks for stopping by my FF :D
    Have a great weekend!!

  6. I feel bad turning down reviews, but then I have to remind myself that if I can't give a book the attention it deserves then what good is it to take it on. I'm more selective in the process and even then I feel overwhelmed.

I don't think I made this mistake myself. It actually took awhile before i even began getting review requests and even then I didn't always accept them

  19. Agree 100%! I am definitely more selective now and read what I want because I don't want my blog or reading to become "something else I have to do".

  23. I think its smart to be more selective...so that you don't overload yourself too much. I think we all make mistakes when we start blogging. For me I had no clue how to do a book blog, So I had to just guess on what to do, but eventually I learned LOL

  24. LOL i think all bloggers do that thing, accepting too many requests when we started... yes we are now being selective! thanks for stopping by my blog, happy friiday, new follower! Love your design!

  25. New follower here :) It's definitely easy to take on way too much when you first begin, and sometimes get overwhelmed, so it's definitely good that you found a bit more balance :)

  26. I try to limit tour reviews to one or two a week max. I'm almost totally done with Net Galley becasue they never tell you if you're requesting a totally uncorrected review copy (which I refuse to read) or an edited copy that just wants reviews (which I love to read). Thanks for stopping by my FF! :)
