Review ~ The Prince’s Ex by Nadene Seiters

The Prince's ExTitle: The Prince's Ex
Author: Nadene Seiters
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Published: April 30th 2014

Amelia Radley thought she had it all when she met a man in a bar and he ended up being royalty. Their love affair was anything but boring, and yet he dumped her almost exactly a year after asking her out to their first dinner date. While the wound was deep and fresh thirty days after their separation, she picked up the morning paper only to see that the man she thought she loved had already become engaged to another woman.

Her best friend, Tina, suggests the only thing she knows would make her feel better. Amelia should start dating any man she meets that she likes so that she can get over her ex. The idea is ludicrous, and yet Amelia agrees to a date with a man she has never met before. All the while, she considers herself nothing more than the prince’s ex, a woman who could not hold the affections of every woman’s dream.

When she finds love in an unexpected place, it’s challenged by the past and the future looks rocky. Amelia’s insecurities might get in the way of her finding true love, in more ways than one.

The Prince’s Ex was a quick read which I enjoyed. The main character Amelia is kind of on the rebound after her failed relationship with a prince. She begins dating again and makes new friends and soon has changed the path of her life.

I liked Amelia; she is a reserved type of girl, who has a cat and a pushy best friend. She is trying to discover herself again after the relationship ended. The story line headed in a few directions until Amelia settled on a guy and a sweet romance developed, but not without hurdles. Her life completely changed by the end of the book and it was great to see Amelia grow as a person.

There were a few points I found a little odd though, like not knowing who runs the business that you have been working at for the past few years – I would think that no matter how big a business is, you kind of have an idea who runs it. There were characters I would’ve liked to know more of too, so I could see the depth to their relationships. The issues that I had were minor though, so they were easy to look over.

There weren’t any sex scenes throughout this book, if that is what you look for in a romance. There’s building passion, kissing scenes and swoon moments, but not anything more than that. The sex scenes are kind of glossed over, but you know that the deed was done. Overall, I thought that the author did a great job telling Amelia’s story, built a nice romance and wrapped it all up nicely.

  1. I'm intrigued by this girl who dated a prince. I would imagine it would be hard to go back to a "regular" relationship after that.

  4. I think I could enjoy this book as well. I'm a closeted Harlequin-type-of-romance reader, and this one fits the bill.

  6. I sometimes do like them, but this one wasn't focused on the Prince at all, just Amelia really

  11. Excellent review, Naomi. I can see why this book didn't knock your socks off, as I think I'd take issue with some of the same things. It does sound like a sweet story though.

  13. Great review! The blurb sounds interesting and I'm really happy that it didn't turn into a story where the prince saw the error of his ways and they got back together. It's nice she found someone else. Thank you for another review.
