Review ~ Damaged Goods by Nicole Williams

Title: Damaged Goods
Author: Nicole Williams
Series: The Outsider Chronicles #2
Genre: NA Contemporary Romance
Published: September 9th 2014

When Liv Bennett said good-bye to her sinkhole of a hometown, she planned to leave that chapter of her life behind forever. But forever turned out to only be three years.

After her addict of a mother up and disappears, Liv returns to what she considers her own personal hell smack in the middle of nowhere Nevada to take care of her two younger sisters, and she promptly reinstitutes the golden rule that got her through her first nineteen years of life without getting knocked up, roughed up, or messed up: don’t date the local boys and, god forbid, don’t fall in love with one of them.

It isn’t long before that golden rule is put to the test.

Will Goods grew up in the next trailer over, but the wild, careless boy who used to tear up the town with his three brothers has morphed into someone else so completely, he’s almost unrecognizable. The quiet, contemplative man who works on cars every night and takes care of his mentally ill mother every day is nothing like the local boys Liv grew up avoiding.

But when Liv considers suspending her golden rule just this once, she finds out something about Will that will change everything.

Will Goods isn’t who he used to be—he’s not even the man Liv thinks she’s gotten to know over the summer. He’s become someone else entirely.

He’s become . . .

Damaged Goods.

Sigh… I loved this book so much!! It was such a sweet and a slightly heart aching read, watching Liv give up her life for her sisters and to do things just so they can survive. When she meets the guy who lives in the trailer next to hers, she begins to fantasize about him in ways she swore she never would.

Liv is just a beautiful person, not only in looks but personality too. She has always looked out for her sisters even though she is away at college. When she gets a call about one being sick, she drops everything and goes home to support them. The problem is that there are no jobs available, and the one she is offered is not ideal, but she takes it just so they can get back on their feet.

Will… Holy hell he is an awesome guy!! Not only is he good looking and has a gorgeous body, but he has a nice personality too. His connection with Liv began just through talking and it was sweet to see it developing slowly like it did. When these two took it further, it was exciting and hot! They both had walls and for them to let them down for a moment was a huge step. Will did have some demons that weren’t revealed until later in the book and his story near shattered me!!

There was one thing that had to be spelled out to me, like it was to Liv, and I had to sit back to think about it. I remember nodding, thinking ‘Well done, Miss Williams… I didn’t see that at all!!’ So I am tipping my hat to you Nicole, it was very well done!

The overall story was amazing, and I was swept away in the world Nicole created. She showed us the difficult times that Liv had to deal with and what a kind heart that Will has. I loved getting to know all the characters; Liv’s sisters are 15 and 17 and acted just like I imagined girls that age do. Even Liv’s boss Jake was a hoot and her work mate Cherry were both characters that I enjoyed to read about as well. Now that I have read both books in the The Outsider Chronicles, I certainly hope there are more!!
