Review ~ No Limits by Lori Foster

No Limits (Ultimate, #1)Title: No Limits
Author: Lori Foster
Series: Ultimate #1
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Published: August 26th 2014

A surprise inheritance reunites a mixed martial arts fighter with the woman he's never forgotten in the first in a smoldering new series from New York Times bestselling author Lori Foster…

Cannon Colter is quintessential hero material: chiseled jawline, shredded body—the works. He's also the guy who rescued Yvette Sweeny from kidnappers, only to put an end to her romantic dreams. These days, she's older, smarter, determined to face whatever life throws her way. Even the prospect of sharing a house and business with Cannon.

Cannon knew Yvette wanted him three years ago. But she was young—and some things are worth waiting for. Thrown together by her grandfather's legacy, he realizes how deep Yvette's scars really go, and how much danger lurks in their quiet town. As pent-up desire explodes between them, protecting her becomes the only fight that matters. And he'll break all the rules to do it…

I have been keen to get more of Cannon since I met him in Getting Rowdy (Love Undercover #3). He was the kind of character that stuck with me and as soon as I saw he had his own book I was quick to snap up a copy. And I’ll tell you… he is better than I remember! He is a little older, has a new direction in life and now fights professionally! Totally hot body, cocky attitude… Yes please!!

Cannon has returned home after his latest fight and found out someone that he admired died. He is now a part owner of a closed pawn shop and a house, with a girl that he has history with. It all went down in Dash of Peril (Love Undercover #4), and if you haven’t read it – like me – that’s ok, because you get the details of what happened, so you are not missing out. Three years have passed since the incident, so Cannon and Yvette build their connection all over again.

I liked Yvette; she is trying to be a strong person and not show that she is the damsel that most people thought she was. When she sees Cannon she realises that all of her feelings for him are still there. But it is different this time and you can see him wanting her just as badly. She has some sexual issues and it was sweet to see them both work through it together.

Cannon is just fantastic! He still has a huge impact in his neighbourhood, even though he is a famous fighter. He will do anything for his community and he has set up a great rec center together for anyone who wants to use it. His friends, all who are fighters too, use it daily as well. He is just a wonderful guy that any girl would want a piece of!!

I enjoyed No Limits; it isn’t as intense as the Love Undercover series. I would have liked to see more of the fighting side of Cannon’s life, but I’m sure we will see that with the other guys. Getting to see all the couples from the previous series was great too and we saw how well they were doing years after they got together. Seeing more of Cannon’s friends was fun as well and I cannot wait to see more of Armie in particular!! If you love a good romance with hot fighters, this is definitely for you!!

  1. I really liked that he was just a spot older in this one and gah yes that is one seriously sexy male! I'm looking forward to the other guys as well. This series had more of the feel of her SBC Fighters I thought. Have you tried them? Not as much action but just a bit of suspense/worry.

  2. I'm just a huge fan of Lori Foster! I definitely liked No Limits. I haven't read Dash of Peril, either though. Glad you liked this.

  3. That's a shame that the author didn't take full advantage of Cannon's martial arts background, that just seems like a waste to me. That being said, you obviously still really enjoyed this book without it, so no harm no foul I guess!

  9. Oh you've got to read them! They were my first of hers and this series kind of brought it back in a circle with overlapping secondary characters Men Who Walk the Edge of Honor, Love Undercover, Ultimate--SBC. I can't remember everyone who was mentioned but Havoc I think was. He's one of the original heroes from the SBC Fighters series.
