EARLY REVIEW ~ Play Me by Blue Ashcroft

Play Me (A1pha, Part 1)
Title: Play Me
Author: Blue Ashcroft
Series: A1pha, Part 1
Genre: NA Romance
Expected Publication: July 1st 2014

Living in a mansion with three hot dudes could be any girl’s dream…it’s just not Kira Wilson's. Not when Alex Dumont is one of them.

Other girls know him as A1pha, a beautiful, arrogant pro gamer and newly minted billionaire. Kira knows him as an ex crush and a major pain in the butt. But he’s also an old friend and gaming buddy, and when she needs to hide from her abusive ex, she knows that Alex and his roommates Ethan and Ollie (her former gaming teammates) are the right friends to depend on.

Despite the rocky history between them, Kira knows Alex is right when he states that no one can protect her better than he can. Kira's just not sure that physical safety is worth the danger the grudge-holding, haunted, and utterly delicious pro gamer poses to her heart.

But with her ex hot on her trail, and Alex looking at her in a way that’s hard to resist, she'd better figure it out soon.

Important note from the author!
A1pha Episode 1 is the first novella in a three part planned new adult romance series about Kira Wilson and her three hot, nerdy housemates. Each installment is a little over half the length of my typical novels, with an intense cliffhanger at the end. Hope you enjoy!

I've read a lot of NA books, and it is always nice to get some new type of characters that I haven't read about before. Gamers… Smart, nerdy people who love to play any type of video game and win! Now that is something new, but these ones have dark pasts, and that is why I'm so drawn to them and this story.

Kira is on the run from her ex and lands back on her old friend’s doorstep. She has no one else to turn to and is unsure how it will go. She is a bit hesitant in the beginning, but after a while she relaxes and opens up a little. I loved getting to know the guys; they have three totally different personalities. Alex is the dominant and broody type. Ollie is the rational one and Ethan is the flirty one. The author really made me believe that Kira and the guys are nerdy types; they don't know how to deal with feelings, prefer to stick with their games and their work. They struggle with their emotions and find it hard to say what they really mean and therefore they avoid most confrontation that gets too close to their hearts.

Although there is a cliffhanger to this, it didn’t upset me as the author did warn me in the blurb. I am keen to see where things go now in the next part. The sexual tension between Kira and Alex is fiery hot, but they have demons they need to deal with and there is a bit of uncertainty between them. I will definitely be reading more in this series!
