Sydney Walker’s new job is perfect. As the live-in nanny to the most famous quarterback in the NFL and his beautiful wife, she couldn’t have it any better. Their kids are adorable. Her bosses are more than generous. Plus, there are hot football players at the house all the time. Life can’t get much better than this.

Until her life turns into an absolute nightmare. The media is abuzz with rumors that she and her boss Drew Callahan are having a torrid affair. Everyone knows the truth—except the public. So Drew’s wife Fable comes up with the perfect idea.

She creates a fake relationship between Sydney and one of the rookie players on Drew’s team. Wade Knox is forever indebted to Drew and Fable and readily agrees to the set up. Pretending to be in a romantic relationship with the hot nanny for a week—how hard can it be?

Crazy how it only takes one week for two people to fall head over heels in love…

(This mash-up new adult romance features characters from both the One Week Girlfriend series and The Rules series.)

The Rules series have been one of my favourite Monica Murphy reads. I thought that it was finished after Tristan's book, but Murphy surprised us with a little bit more. And even though I've only read the first book in Drew and Fable's series, I was excited to see them both again, and to see how happy and successful they were. But I really enjoyed how the attraction between Sydney and Wade grew, until all they could think about was each other.

Sydney, Gabe's sister (Rules #2) wasn't looking for love, but she was trying to find her feet after being cut off by her parents. She was eager to succeed in her new role, and I loved seeing her gel with Fable and Drew. She cemented her role with the family and the kids adored her. After a few sequential incidents, Sydney's caught up in a scandal and faking a relationship appears to be the way to fix it.

Wade was focused on football, and didn't think he'd ever find a girl that would hold a permanent place in his life. He was close to Drew and Fable, as he was best friends with Fable's brother Owen. He often came to Drew for advice about football, and each time he came over he was more intrigued by their new nanny, Sydney.

I liked both Sydney and Wade! I could see their feelings were growing into something REAL. Sydney was a sweet girl, and was determined to make it without the help of her parents. I loved Wade too, and how he put everyone else first. He would do anything to help those he loved. Watching them together was amusing as they tried to pull off a fake relationship, and soon they were both in too deep.

If you haven't read any of the other books in either series, it's not essential if you want to give this book a try. Murphy gives you all the information and character development to engage readers. I loved that it was an angst free read, and loved how the connection between Sydney and Wade continued to grow, even though it was supposed to be a temporary fling. I liked that it was similar to how Fable and Drew got together, and this story has made me want to go back to where it all began.

Ahhh... Wade made me swoon, and this kiss was HOT!

I slip my hand around her nape and pull her face close to mine so our mouths are aligned.
Sydney flicks her surprised gaze up to mine, but before she can say anything, I silence her.
With my lips.
