This is a STANDALONE Dark Romance novel. WARNING: contains explicit situations, dubious consent, graphic violence, drug abuse, and other disturbing content.

I’ve read a few of Clarissa Wild’s dark romances and really enjoyed them, so I was excited to read her newest release. Twenty-One is from the same world as Stalker, but can be read as a standalone, as you don’t need to know Phoenix and Vanessa’s story to get into this one. They are totally different but I did like seeing Phoenix and Vanessa cross over into this book momentarily.

Right from the prologue I was thrust into the dark and bloody life of Angel DeLuca. I could see how heartless he could be and that he’d do anything to get the information he needed before completing the job. Sky, she was willing to do anything to protect those she cares about, even getting captured and tortured. I loved how determined she was and didn’t succumb to any of the punishment that was dished out.

Slowly, Sky’s story was unravelled, and I figured out the plot twist early, but I still was kept in suspense the whole way. They were both sexually attracted to one another, despite not knowing who the other was due to their faces being hidden behind masks. Angel and Sky had a deeper connection than I realised and I loved how fierce and protective he became of her.

Twenty-One was a dark and twisted read that I devoured in a day. The torture and sex scenes will not suit everyone, so don’t pick up this book unless you enjoy these types of reads. I enjoyed how the story unfolded and how Clarissa slowly seeped the details into the story to keep you on edge. I did manage to finish the book with a smile on my face, hoping that Angel and Sky can really find peace and happiness now.
