When it comes to passion this hot, it’s all or nothing.
Olivia Townsend’s wealthy cousin Marissa had everything a girl could ask for—a great job, a privileged life, and all the friends she wanted. Or, at least, all the friends money could buy. But one case of mistaken identity has turned her privileged world upside down.
An abduction gone wrong lands her right in the lap of the sexiest, most dangerous man she’s ever met. To Marissa, he’s an enigma, but one to whom she’s irresistibly, inexplicably drawn.
With him comes a new world of freedom and passion, of dark shadows and dangerous secrets, a world where nothing is what it seems—except for the blind passion that Marissa can’t escape—or maybe even survive.
I am a massive fan of Michelle Leighton’s books, so it comes as no surprise that I loved this book too!! It is the final in the Bad Boys series and it was a fitting end to the series. If you haven’t read any of the books in the series however, you need to now!! My review may contain spoilers … so read on at your own risk *winks*
The first two books are centred on mostly Olivia and Cash. This final book is Marissa and Nash’s. They are both dealing with what has happened in their pasts and want to move on, but are unsure of how to do it. Their current situation still has everyone on edge and they just want it all to be over so they are able to try and rebuild their lives.
When I read the first two books, I really didn’t like Marissa that much. She was a snotty girl, thinking she was so much better than everyone and treated people badly, including Olivia. But she was involved in a situation which changed the view of herself and the world she lives in. The more I read about her in this book, the more I liked her. She seemed to turn things around and stepped out from behind her father’s shadow to see things as they really are. She turned out to be quite a character and plans on doing things better this time around.
Nash is a bit hot tempered, but has every right to be after everything that he has gone through. The only thing that he has wanted is redemption, but since Marissa came into his life he is beginning to question his priorities. He tries his hardest to keep her away from him, but he has the need to protect her as she is still a little fragile since the ordeal. I really liked Nash, even though he is not sure what he wants. You can see the man that he was supposed to be trying to surface, but he doesn’t really think of himself as a good person, after all he has been through. Marissa can see those great bits, but she also finds it hard to express herself.
It was great to see a lot of reoccurring characters again too. Of course we see Olivia and Cash, but we also see Ginger, who I love! She is such a fire-cracker and has me giggling at her witty remarks in no time! And the big tough Aussie Gavin… He sets the standard for guys from down here in Australia! *wink* I love him, he is a fantastic guy and had me cracking up at times too!
The story continued on from the previous books, only this time it is focused on two other important characters. The way Michelle is able to build a great story that has you sucked right into the world is just astonishing! I love the amount of sharp remarks she is able to write into her work that I had to tweet them to the Twitterverse! There were times where I laughed hard, then swooned as well, but the story does have a serious edge that kept me glued to the pages. I enjoyed how this story played out and it was a fitting conclusion to the series. I have my fingers crossed that one day I may see Ginger again, because she would be a hilarious character to read about!
I received a copy of this book from the Publisher, Berkley (Penguin) via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
