Small town vet Abby Benson has fled to the country to put her shameful past behind her. She’s just beginning to find her feet again when handsome stranger, Rue Thorn, arrives in town and begins to stir things up. Rue is gorgeous, kind and thoughtful and the two share an instant attraction. But convinced he’ll despise her if he learns about her history, Abby reluctantly keeps him at arms length.

Determined to win Abby over, Rue tries to reshape himself as the sort of guy he thinks she might be interested in. And for a while it seems his act is working. But when he finds out that Abby has been lying to him, it isn’t long before everything start to unravel …

A moving story of trust, forgiveness and the power of love from the author of Uncovered by Love and The Playboy’s Dark Secret.
Love & Other Lies is a sweet tale about two lost souls who cross paths by chance. Abby was in a difficult situation and Rue was lost in the small town of Belgulla, when he happened to find Abby. The sparks are there from the beginning, but Abby is hesitant to act of them. It was an intriguing tale of love, trust and finding happiness.

I loved Abby’s passion, she is a vet in a small town and the health and well being of all the animals are her priority and they often touch her heart. She does have her issues though, and although she is afraid to trust herself, I could see that she was a stronger character now and just needed encouragement.

Rue really is a nice guy. I could see how generous and kind he could be right from the beginning. The advice he got from his brother was amusing and it was fun to see him going after what he wanted… that being Abby! He was more direct and forceful, and I liked that side of him!

Abby and Rue’s story was a sweet and romantic one. Rue is looking for someone in his life and thinks Abby is the one. Abby’s past was a difficult one, and I never imagined what that would be like for someone, so it was interesting to see it entwined into a storyline like this. This is the first book I have read from
Madeline Ash, and I found the writing style and the pace of the story flowed easily. I will definitely pick up more of her work in the future!
