Lost. The one thing I’ve wanted above everything else was taken from me in one night. My dreams were shattered forever because of one irreversible mistake.
There was nothing I could do about it.
I’d lost everything.
So I did what I always do. I ran.
To another continent.
To France.
To start over.
God knows, I needed a new beginning; a new job, a new life.
To find what I truly wanted…needed…craved.
A man of my own.

My French man found me. He was perfect.
Or…was he. Alain du Bois had a secret. One that could destroy us before we even had a chance to find love.

And why was my new boss, Maxwell Grant, the arrogant and demanding CEO of Grant Global, fixated on me?

Would I find myself in France?
Would I get what I desperately wanted?
Or was I jumping from one hotter than hell fire into another?

This is the second series of Jani Kay’s that I have started, and I was really looking forward to this one. Lost in France is set in Paris and the main character is an Australian girl, fleeing her life to start over. It had a lot of potential but in the end it fell a little short for me… but I will continue to read it to see if the series picks up.

Rebecca’s high school boyfriend broke her heart and she decided a new challenge would be easier than working through her issues. She accepts a new job and is relocated, and on the way joins the mile high club with the sexy Frenchman, Alain. They grow close and she experiences a whole new set of firsts with the mysterious hottie, before meeting her boss, Maxwell. He is gorgeous too and there is a pull between them that Rebecca doesn’t understand. He is arrogant and pushes her buttons like no-one else.

As you can tell there appears to be a bit of a love triangle thing happening, but it doesn’t really come into effect in this book. There is plenty of attraction between Rebecca and the men in her life, but she really has eyes for only one of them. I thought I made up my mind about all the characters early in the book, but a few things happened which made me change my mind. Rebecca, who is 29 years old, seems quite naïve for someone of her age and is probably too trusting and quick to make decisions without thinking them through properly.

When I was at about 90% of the story, I thought things were on track for Rebecca… but then one of the characters confused me to no end, doing a complete back flip and it really pissed me off!! I couldn’t believe that he would do that and I was quite shocked. It really unsettled Rebecca and she was right back at square one. I will read the next book to see if things pick up for her and to see whether or not she can find the happiness she deserves!

  1. This sounds ominous. And the love triangle thing doesn't really appeal to me. Is this a series? In any case, I hope it gets better for you!

  3. Good for you for staying strong and sticking it out to see what happens. I am sorry this book fell a little flat for you though. Sadly it does happen from time to time. Hope the sequel is better!

  9. I one-clicked this one after seeing it here - I think you were featuring a different book but let us know this one was free?? Anyway, I'm sorry it didn't quite live up to your expectations - I don't think I'd like a 29 year old being so naive either. But I'm glad there's enough there that you want to know what happens next. :)
