Review ~ TAUT: The Ford Book by J.A. Huss

TAUT: The Ford Book (Rook and Ronin Spinoff)Title: TAUT: The Ford Book
Author: J.A. Huss
Series: Rook and Ronin Spinoff
Genre: NA Contemporary Romance
Published: January 20th 2014

Ford Aston is known for many things. Being an emotionless, messed up bastard, a freakishly smart social outcast, and a cold, domineering master who keeps "pets" instead of girlfriends.

And after Rook broke his heart, he plans to keep it that way.

Ashleigh is known for nothing, and that's exactly what she's got going for her. She's broke, stranded in the mountains with a three month old baby, and Ford Aston is screwing with her head.

Big. Time.

And she plans to mess with his right back.

It's a coy game at first, filled with flirting, and innuendo--but Ford soon realizes something is not quite right with Ashleigh. In fact, something is seriously, seriously wrong and the closer they get to their final destination, the closer Ford gets to the truth.

One night of devastation, self-loathing, and emptiness turns into the best thing that ever happened to Ford Aston. But one day of in-your-face reality threatens Ashleigh's whole existence.

I will tell you now, I loved the brilliant Ford in the Rook and Ronin series, and loved SLACK, but now… I am truly in love with Ford! I saw a completely different side to him on this journey and he simply has my heart! I love his intelligent mind, his manipulative side and the emotions that he goes through, although he believes that he cannot feel. Yep… Love him lots and I'm so glad he found his 'Team'!!

Ford changed a lot as a person throughout this story. He started all bitter, cold and moody, as he was pining over his broken relationship with Rook. When his bronco breaks down, Ashleigh and her baby come into the story and slowly she manages to break down his walls, piece by piece. Ashleigh is not like anyone who he's met before and she challenges him constantly. She has her own issues that she is trying to work through and Ford won't push her, but he soon realises he wants Ashleigh for himself.

Ford says from the start that he does not do babies, but soon Ford realises fu**ing mothers (as Ford calls them) are good at manipulation!! And baby Kate, somehow, worms her way into his heart. I can see him being a good father and was so happy that he found his own team. Watching him take the girls to the shops and buying things for Kate was so sweet… he was picking things out and I just swooned!!

So if that is not enough to melt you, date night certainly will! I could go into details, but you MUST read it for yourself, it was beautiful, romantic and sizzling hot!! I just knew these two were meant to be!!

I love the way J.A. Huss wove this story. The way the relationship between Ford and Ash grew slowly was beautiful. We saw how well he can treat women and how a small baby can grab hold of your heart and not let go. But as usual, J.A. Huss throws a twist into the plot that you don't see coming… I loved how Fords story was wrapped up, and now I'm keen to read Spence's stories!!

  1. I just read Ford's story. I've been mad for him since Rook first met him and then in Panic with how he pushed Rook I was dying to read his story. I loved Taut! You are so right about how he didn't push Ash. I think anyone else would have, but he let her be. She pushed him more and that was different than most female characters right now. I loved how he cared about baby Kate wearing the clothes he picked out. That was adorable! Have you read Spencer's story yet? I just bought it, but I haven't read all the novellas...
    Great review!! Happy reading!

I really Love Ford though. I saw a whole different side of him in his stories that made me love him more. Ashleigh is perfect for him, and who would've thought that he'd fall for Kate!
Thank you so much for stopping by!

  7. I'm loving that cover already! I never heard of this series before, I
love feeling the way you felt about this book. I see this is spin-off,
can it be read by itself, or do I need the history behind it on the
other three books in in the series?

  8. I think that it is better read after the initial books, which I believe are being sold as a trilogy for 99c for the US folk.... (not us Aussies) I am so jealous about that! Anyway, to get the full understanding of Ford and the world, I'd recommend the original books first. Thanks Loupe!
