Book Blurb

No one is like Daemon Black.

When he set out to prove his feelings for me, he wasn’t fooling around. Doubting him isn’t something I’ll do again, and now that we’ve made it through the rough patches, well... There’s a lot of spontaneous combustion going on.

But even he can’t protect his family from the danger of trying to free those they love.

After everything, I’m no longer the same Katy. I’m different... And I’m not sure what that will mean in the end. When each step we take in discovering the truth puts us in the path of the secret organization responsible for torturing and testing hybrids, the more I realize there is no end to what I’m capable of. The death of someone close still lingers, help comes from the most unlikely source, and friends will become the deadliest of enemies, but we won’t turn back. Even if the outcome will shatter our worlds forever.

Together we’re stronger... and they know it.

My Review

What can I say but OMG!!! So much happened in Opal that I found it extremely hard to put the book down. There were a lot of loose ends that were tied up, but the book was left on a cliffhanger and I really want to know what happens now!!!!

Opal continues on not long after Onyx left off, with Dawson back and he is still distant from his siblings. Katy and Daemon are still together, but Dee is keeping her distance from Katy as she blames her for what happened to Adam. Blake returns to town and has put an offer to the aliens to help them free Beth for Dawson so he can also free his Luxen friend Chris. They all need to put their personal feelings aside to work with Blake to achieve their goal of freeing Beth so that Dawson won’t go rouge.

In Opal, I enjoyed the building relationship between Daemon and Katy. As they are officially together now, they deal with their issues like normal couples. They may disagree sometimes, but they are able to talk it out and come to a compromise. The bond they have is strong and their relationship is becoming quite intense as they start to move way past first base, it is beautiful even with the issues they have and the crazy world they live in, they are able to find time for one another.

I still like how Katy is into blogging and reviewing books!! As it is something we both have in common, I think I connect with her better. Every time something happens to her laptop my heart breaks along with hers, as I don’t know what I’d do without mine!! Everytime Daemon takes an interest in her book passion, my heart just melts….. But he is even able to bring it up in an argument, so she understands his point better.

“No. You don’t get it.” He turned to me, furious. “This isn’t a paranormal fantasy or whatever the hell it is you read. There is no set plot or clear idea of where any of this is going. The enemies aren’t obvious. There are no guaranteed happy endings and you—” He lowered his head so we were eye level. “You are not a superhero, no matter what the hell you can do.”

Wow. He’d really been stalking my blog. But not the point. “I know this isn’t a book, Daemon. I’m not stupid.”

Katy was awesome in Opal. She was able to bring Dawson out of his shell and open up to his family once again. They formed a little bond and I liked how she was able to build this friendship. I think Daemon fell even more in love with Katy for doing that, if it was possible for him to love her anymore. On the other hand Katy had to work on her friendship with Dee because she kept Dee in the dark about a lot of things and had to build up that trust again. I thought it was believable because they didn’t just kiss and make up immediately.

The plot was great, with Katy and the alien crew having to put their feelings aside to work with Blake, who I still didn’t trust and neither did the others. I was a little pissed that he came back myself, as we all know Blake equals trouble, but without his contacts, they wouldn’t be able to get as far as they did. Opal was a very intense read but swoon worthy too!!

Moving lightning fast, Daemon was in front of me before I could say another word, cupping my cheeks, tilting my head back as he lowered his. Lips brushed against mine, sending a shiver down my spine. The initial touch was feather soft, heartbreakingly tender. Then the contact evolved with the second sweep of his lips and mine parted, welcoming him.

There is plenty of action, lots of fighting and more death. As I said earlier, some loose ends from Opal are tied up and I was glad they were, but then the whole cliffhanger has left me hanging out for more…… I don’t think that July can get here quick enough, because things just got interesting!!!!
