Tomorrow is release day for The Indigo Spell!! Yay!! I was lucky enough to snag an eArc of the book so I can share my review early. If you don’t know by now, this is one of my favourite series and I was hanging out for this book. It was worth the wait, I’m telling you!!

Title: The Indigo Spell
Author: Richelle Mead
Series: Bloodlines #3
Genre: YA Paranormal
Published: February 12th 2013

I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Penguin Books Australia!!

Book Description

In the aftermath of a forbidden moment that rocked Sydney to her core, she finds herself struggling to draw the line between her Alchemist teachings and what her heart is urging her to do. Then she meets alluring, rebellious Marcus Finch--a former Alchemist who escaped against all odds, and is now on the run. Marcus wants to teach Sydney the secrets he claims the Alchemists are hiding from her. But as he pushes her to rebel against the people who raised her, Sydney finds that breaking free is harder than she thought. There is an old and mysterious magic rooted deeply within her. And as she searches for an evil magic user targeting powerful young witches, she realizes that her only hope is to embrace her magical blood--or else she might be next.

Populated with new faces as well as familiar ones, the Bloodlines series explores all the friendship, romance, battles, and betrayals that made the #1 New York Times bestselling Vampire Academy series so addictive—this time in a part-vampire, part-human setting where the stakes are even higher and everyone’s out for blood.

My Review

It has been a long wait, but I finally got my Adrian fix and it was definitely worth it! There is so much of him jammed into this book that there was no way I could put the book down until it was over. I think it was possible to love him anymore than I already did, but I do, I love him more than ever!! It was a fabulous ride to the very end and I was swooning the whole way through.... Yay!

Did I mention that Sydney is in the book? No... Slipped my mind sorry! Yes she is still the main character and still as quirky as ever. In The Indigo Spell she continues to broaden her magical abilities with the help of her teacher and has even more doubts about the way she was brought up to trust what she has learnt from the alchemists.

Sydney's detective work is what makes this series so intriguing and she ends up locating the mysterious Marcus Finch (who I won’t elaborate about as he plays an important role in the book). Sydney is not a normal teenager and she is a very smart girl that can see things easier than normal people can. With the use of her magical abilities she is able to do things I can only dream of doing. Now that she has accepted that she is a magical person she is more open minded about things.

After the ending of The Golden Lily, I wasn't sure if things would be ok between Adrian and Sydney, but they are able to put their feelings aside and remain civilised when in the company of other people, whether they are friends or strangers. The first time they meet in TIS is very amusing, as Sydney is not sure how to act. She is so hesitant and reserved whereas Adrian is his usual bubbly and arrogant self!! So much fun!!

It was more of a Sydney and Adrian book as we hardly get to see any of the other characters that have been in the previous books. They have minor roles, but nothing big enough to impact the storyline. In this book Sydney’s main objectives were to locate Marcus Finch, eliminate a threat and to deal with her feelings for Adrian.

I loved the whole story, and the plot was fantastic as Sydney has two main story lines with Adrian all mixed up in them both. The magical aspect is always fun and Sydney's abilities have grown considerably. There are finally a lot of swoon worthy moments between Adrian and Sydney, and I was able to cheer……”You go girl!!” but as usual her brain kicks in and she doubts her feelings. If you have loved the other books in the series, you will love this one even more!!

The Fiery Heart is due out later this year and we will get to see Adrian’s POV, how will I cope until then????

And before you go you must check out the teasers that I shared last week!! I am addicted!

Teaser 1

I was trapped on a five-hour flight with Adrian Ivashkov. Five hours. Five hours sitting only a few inches from him, smelling his overpriced cologne and looking into those knowing eyes. What was I going to do? Nothing, of course. There was nowhere to go, nowhere to escape since even first-class passengers weren't allowed parachutes.

Teaser 2

“I’m not dangerous,” I breathed.
He brought his face toward mine. “You are to me.”
And somehow, against all reason, we were kissing. I closed my eyes, and the world around me faded. The noise, the smoke . . . it was gone. All that mattered was the taste of his mouth, a mix of cloves and mints. There was a fierceness in his kiss, a desperation . . . and I answered, just as hungry for him. I didn’t stop him when he pulled me closer, so that I almost sat on his lap. I’d never been wrapped around someone’s body like that, and I was shocked at how eagerly mine responded. His arm went around my waist, pulling me onto him further, and his other hand slid up the back of my neck, getting entangled in my hair. Amazingly, the wig stayed on. He took his lips away from my mouth, gently trailing kisses down to my neck. I tipped my head back, gasping when the intensity returned to his mouth. There was an animalistic quality that sent shock waves through the rest of my body. Some Alchemist voice warned me that this was exactly how a vampire would feed, but I had no fear. Adrian wouldn’t hurt me, and I needed to know just how hard he could kiss me and—
