Book Description

MY KISS CAN KILL.

I used to be ordinary Samantha Day, but that's changed. Now, after one dark kiss from a dangerous boy, I can steal someone's soul...or their life. If I give in to the constant hunger inside me, I hurt anyone I kiss. If I don't...I hurt myself.

Bishop is the one whose kiss I crave most, but if I kiss him, I'll kill him. Then there's another boy, one I can't hurt. One whose kiss seems to miraculously quell my hunger. They're both part of a team of angels and demons that's joined forces in my city to fight a mysterious rising darkness, an evil that threatens everyone I know and love. I just wonder if I'll be able to help Bishop-or if I'm just another part of the darkness he's sworn to destroy....

NIGHTWATCHERS

When angels and demons must work together, something beyond evil is rising...

My Review

I read Dark Kiss when it first came out last year and I have been keen to read the sequel and I definitely wasn’t disappointed!! It was packed with an abundance of action and plot twists that kept me guessing right up to the final page!!

Samantha is a Nexus, half angel, half demon, and she lost her soul in the first book. Wicked Kiss begins a week after the end of Dark Kiss with Samantha trying to track down Stephen to retrieve her soul as he was the one that took it from her.

She has been able to control her hunger, but it is becoming increasingly stronger and harder to hold on to. However, if she hadn’t lost her soul she would never have known that she was a Nexus or found out about the Angels and Demons that have been sent to earth. So in a way losing it has opened her up to the Paranormal world.

In Dark Kiss I learnt that Bishop and Kraven were brothers and in Wicked Kiss I was able to see more into their relationship and what caused the rift between them. It was great to see more depth to these characters in this book as they have so much to hide. Samantha is persistent in trying to figure out their problems and unveil the secrets that they have been hiding and will do anything to help the boys settle their differences.

Samantha’s soul sucking ability keeps the story engaging. She is unable to get to close to those that have souls and therefore she is unable to get too close to Bishop, in case she may suck his soul out. She has a lot of other abilities as well, all of which she uses throughout the book to try and figure out the problems that the team has been sent to Earth to fix.

There are so many twists in the plot that I wasn’t able to pick the direction in the story. Just when I thought I knew what was going to happen, Michelle would throw in something that would change the direction of the story. The balance of Good v’s Evil is a very important element throughout the series and I was able to see how important it was in this book.

Everything was wrapped up in Wicked Kiss and I thoroughly enjoyed the ride!! It may have been left open for something in the future, but for now it looks like the story is done. The plot was captivating, the characters were realistic and the writing style was awesome!! Incredible job Michelle!!

I received a copy of this book from Harlequin Australia via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
