Lovewrecked by Karina Halle ~ Review & Teaser (@MetalBlonde)

I've read a lot of Karina Halle's books, and most I have loved. This one was good, but it didn't blow me away like I hoped it would. The weather was hit or miss, we travelled to some nice destinations and met some amusing characters!

A grumpy groomsman. A surprise shipwreck. Stuck on a deserted island together? Worst maid-of-honor gig ever.

Daisy Lewis is experiencing a relentless string of bad luck.

Fortunately, Daisy has her sister’s destination wedding coming up. A week of sand, sea, and sun in the South Pacific as the maid-of-honor is exactly what Daisy needs to forget her upturned life and focus on the positive.

That is until Daisy meets the best man.

If you take tall, dark, and handsome, and add a dash of rugged, a pinch of brooding, and a whole lot of sexy, you’ve got Tai Wakefield. Unfortunately he’s also a major grump, total alpha, and seemingly out to antagonize Daisy at every turn.

As if being part of the wedding party with Tai wasn’t bad enough, Daisy’s bad luck soon resurfaces when she ends up on a cramped sailboat with Tai and the newlyweds.

Which then shipwrecks on a deserted island near Fiji.

Okay, so they aren’t completely alone. There’s an oddball research scientist who has been isolated for far too long, they have rundown bungalows as shelter, stores of water and canned food, plus a feral goat named Wilson.

It’s Lost…without the smoke monster.

But with rescue weeks away, Tai and Daisy realize the only way they’re going to get through this mess is to stop fighting and start working together.
And with their guards down, they get closer.

A lot closer.

Soon, Daisy realizes that the only thing worse than being stuck on a deserted island, is being stuck on a deserted island with a man she hates to love and loves to hate.

A man that can break her heart.

Karina Halle is an author that I really love to read, she has delivered some incredible stories so far. Lovewrecked was a good read, but it wasn't one of my favourites.

Daisy was going through some tough times, and travelled to New Zealand for her sisters wedding. Right from the start she kept getting herself into amusing and uncomfortable situations. Meeting Tai, the handsome groomsman, should've been something to brighten the trip. However he was more the broody type and he seemed to clash with Daisy a lot.

I liked Daisy, the way she was carefree and would smile even though her life was a wreck at the time. I didn't like the way her sister treated her, or her parents for that matter. They seemed to only see what she showed on the outside, not through to the broken girl on the inside. As Tai got to know Daisy he could see her sadness, and that she wore that smile as a shield.

Tai had his own demons, and the trip that they all ended up going on awoke all the feelings that he had buried. He built a connection with Daisy, but was quick to shut her down in the heat of the moment. The trip was hard on everyone, and the tension was high, so it was going to be a matter of time before tempers exploded.

I enjoyed meeting all the characters, they learned a lot about one another and became closer due to the situation they got themselves into. There were some interesting elements that left me scratching my head, but overall it was a sweet read.
Here are is a funny moment, and a couple of sweet ones!

“I’m sorry I touched your dick.”
He chuckles. “I’m not. It’s my one redeeming quality.”

“How are we going to get through this?” she asks, her voice quiet against the roar of the downpour, the rain running into her eyes, her mouth. “Not just this storm, but all the days ahead of us?”
“One sunrise at a time,” I tell her. “One sunrise at a time, and with me by your side. Okay?”
I squeeze her hand.
She squeezes mine back.
“Okay.”

“Gingersnap,” he says, pressing his forehead against mine. “I’ll go wherever you go. All I know is that I’m going to be with you. I told you that. One sunrise at a time, with me by your side.”
