Review ~ Something Real by Lexi Ryan

Title: Something Real
Author: Lexi Ryan
Series: Reckless & Real #2
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Published: March 3rd 2015

After everything blew up on Christmas, Liz walked away from me, and I let her. She said she needed space and a chance to pursue her dreams. But we both knew she was running from the mess she made. Now the political campaign she used as an excuse to leave is bringing us back together and I’m proving to her what she really needs—not just the hot nights, greedy hands, and undeniable physical chemistry. What she really needs is something real. What she really needs…is me.

Something Real was a difficult ending to Sam and Liz’s story. After the ending of the previous book, both Sam and Liz felt betrayed and went their separate ways. And things were only going to get worse before they were to get better.

Liz moved to Indianapolis after all her dirty laundry was aired. She has not been happy and I could see she was still pining over Sam. She was living a pretty quiet life and her friends and sisters are a great support for her, but her heart is broken.

Sam’s troubles were only just beginning. He was quickly pulled into a scandal that would see him living a fake life that he doesn’t want. The five months apart from Liz have given him time to think and he still desperately wants Liz. There are a lot of hurdles in the way now, and he seems to dig himself in deeper at every turn.

The scandal was certainly an interesting twist in Sam and Liz’s story. They both knew what their hearts wanted, but it was becoming harder to be with one another. I didn’t like how Sam strung Liz along at times, but he lost his head every time he was with her, and their love always shone through.

Lexi Ryan did a fantastic job at concluding Sam and Liz’s story. The dual POV’s helped me see both sides of their story and the struggles they were dealing with, both emotionally and physically. The storyline was riveting and I wanted to smack a certain character in particular. If you have enjoyed Lexi’s other work, you are going to enjoy this series too!

  1. I really like the books with dual pov. It really is nice being able to get both of their sides to things.

  2. That ending to the previous book must've been hard to get through, huh? I'm glad you're satisfied with this ending. :)

  3. I agree... sometimes it's better to get both sides POV's. More insight to the characters and the developing storyline!
