Book Description

The bloody war between the Vampire Tribunal and the defiant scathe of Penton, Alabama, rages on, forcing its residents and their bonded humans to retreat into the underground fortress of last resort: Omega. There, Will Ludlam is charged with the care of Penton's humans, though he longs to fight alongside his vampire brethren. He knows the risks: as the renegade son of the Tribunal's vicious leader, Will's capture could doom the resistance.

Yet he is determined to prove his worth to his adopted scathe, to his vengeful father and to former US Army officer Randa Thomas, his beautiful, reluctant partner. Randa has little faith that a former member of the vampire elite has what it takes to fight a war. But as their enemies descend upon Omega, Will's polished charm and Randa's guarded heart finally give way to the warrior within.

Fans of Susannah Sandlin's Penton Legacy are sure to devour this long-awaited third installment of the steamy paranormal series.

My Review

I have read the first two books in the Penton series and I have been eager to read Will’s book, even though I am sad because that means he’s going to hook up and won’t be moving into my Palace that I was going to rename Wilmi’s Paranormal Palace….. but anyway, I sucked back the tears and dived into the book!

Omega begins only a couple of days after the end of Absolution and the showdown between Adrian and Matthias. Will is the drop dead gorgeous lieutenant in the Penton scathe who has some secrets of his own. He is a well respected person in the community and has a 22 year old body, yum!! In Omega, Will needs to deal with his past if he is able to become the person he is destined to be. That means he needs to confront his father Matthias and his second in charge Shelton.

Randa was unwillingly turned into a Vampire 5 years ago while serving her country in the Army. She hasn’t enjoyed being a vampire, but finds it easier now that she is with Aidan and his scathe. Her partner Will is frustrating at times, but she is beginning to see there is more to him than what appears.

In the previous book, Will and Randa didn’t really like each other when they were first made into partners, but slowly their relationship has grown. In Omega, they are able to tolerate each other and soon see each other differently and the chemistry between them starts to sizzle! They learn the secrets about each other and work well together as a team.

I enjoyed the storyline as we see how they whole scathe has had to deal with the aftermath of Matthias’s attack. They need to be more careful and will need to find new allies if they will be able to defeat Matthias. After the action packed ending of Absolution, I hoped that it would continue in Omega, but there wasn’t as much as I hoped. The few sex scenes were steamy and were bought on through tense emotion. Overall I enjoyed the book and was happy with the twists in the story, which will make things interesting in the future!

About the Author

Susannah Sandlin is the author of paranormal romance set in the Deep South, where there are always things that go bump in the night.

A journalist by day, Susannah grew up in Alabama reading the gothic novels of Susan Howatch and the horror fantasy of Stephen King. (Um…it is fantasy, right?)

The combination of Howatch and King probably explains a lot. Currently a resident of Auburn, Alabama, Susannah has also lived in Illinois, Texas, California, and Louisiana.

  1. I was also a little jalous of Randa because i've come to like Will quite a lot but he really deserves her. I 've thought that their psychology and reactions were really well thought and realist
