Desperate to keep him...

I've finally gotten everything I ever wanted: love, freedom, happiness, and, most importantly, Finn. Our love is everything I expected it to be and more. We've finally found each other, but the world seems determined to tear us apart. We thought my father was the only obstacle between us, but now it's the military. With Finn’s departure looming, we’re squeezing in every moment together before we run out of time.

Trying to make every moment count…

Being Carrie’s bodyguard was one thing. Being her boyfriend is another. Every day she’s mine is a day the sun shines in my life. Yet our time together is running out. Her father will never think a tattooed Marine will be good enough, so I’ll do whatever it takes to be worthy of her love. But the road will take me away from the girl who makes me feel alive--the girl I can't live without.

Time only gets us so far...
My first thought after finishing Out of Time was NOOOOOO!!! I could not believe it ended like that… right on the edge of a big climatic scene!! I was so immersed in the storyline that I flicked the page and the acknowledgements were there. I loved it; it was exciting, captivating and sizzling!

Out of Time continues immediately after the conclusion of the previous book with Carrie and Finn continuing their relationship in secret. Their relationship is reaching new levels; they are very passionate about each other and they continue to discover new hobbies that they like to do together. Finn has to report back for a weekend and has to make some tough decisions as to his future and how he can be the right person in Carrie’s life.

I liked seeing this part of the story and how Carrie and Finn were continuing their lives. The passion between Carrie and Finn is scorching and their connection is so strong that you can see they can work through anything to build a life together. They face some tough hurdles and need to make some life changing decisions that could affect their future together. Carrie’s family background is a major factor in the decisions that they make and they both worry a lot about what her parents will think.

Both characters have grown a lot since I first met them. Finn’s priorities have shifted and he is seeing a life that he wants. He is a bit sappy at times and he berates himself for turning into one of those guys who is always thinking about his girl. But he is willing to step up and do things that will cement a better future for both Carrie and himself. Carrie is still a sweet girl, but she is becoming more confidant and you see it when she interacts with her parents. She is letting people in and even builds a friendship with her roommate, Maria.

I enjoyed how this story continued to built up only to have a few twists thrown in to have my heart plummeting. I enjoy everything about it; the characters, the world and the dangers that they have to face. Jen McLaughlin has an easy writing style that I enjoy, showing both Carrie and Finn’s POV’s and it seems I cannot get enough… I want the next book now, but I must settle back and wait for her to write it first. Get onto this series if you haven’t already!!

I received a copy of this book from the Author in exchange for an honest review.
