There's punishment — and then there's vengeance.

Nora Sutherlin is in handcuffs, being held captive. Under different circumstances, she would enjoy the situation immensely, but her captors aren't interested in play. Or pity.

As the reality of her impending peril unfolds, Nora becomes Scheherazade, buying each hour of her life with stories — sensual tales of Søren, Kingsley and Wesley, each of whom has tempted, tested and tortured her in his own way. This, Nora realises, is her life: nothing so simple, so vanilla, as a mere love triangle for her. It's a knot in a silken cord, a tangled mass of longings of the body, the heart and the mind...which all could unravel at any moment.

But in Nora's world, no one is ever truly powerless — a cadre of her friends, protectors and lovers stands ready to do anything to save her. Even when the only certainty seems to be sacrifice and heartbreak...

Feature and Follow #46 ~ ACTIVITY Back to school.

Feature & Follow is a blog hop hosted by Parajunkee & Alison Can Read.

Here’s this week’s question:

ACTIVITY ~ Back to school. Create a reading list for the imaginary English Lit class you’ll be teaching this semester.

If this was my class, I would like to spice it up a little.... none of those conventional books, that's for sure!! Some new modern day books that can have your emotions all over the place... Let's see...

We definitely need a series that deals with a lot of emotions...

This one is a fun one and will teach us how to react when you wake up in a situation that you really don't remember getting yourself into ;)

And these books will prepare us for when vampires, shifters and zombies come out to get us. We may even harness Magic... yeah!!!

We are going to have great discussions in my class!! What do you think?

Waking up in Vegas was never meant to be like this.

Evelyn Thomas’s plans for celebrating her twenty-first birthday in Las Vegas were big. Huge. But she sure as hell never meant to wake up on the bathroom floor with a hangover to rival the black plague, a very attractive half-naked tattooed man, and a diamond on her finger large enough to scare King Kong. Now if she could just remember how it all happened.

One thing is for certain, being married to rock and roll’s favourite son is sure to be a wild ride.

Both of David’s hands gripped my butt and I locked my feet behind his back, holding on tight. His face showed no sign of pain or imminent back breakage. Maybe he was strong enough to carry me around after all.
“That’s it.” He smiled and kissed my chin. “All good?”
I nodded, not trusting myself to speak.
“Bed?”
“YES.”
He chuckled in a way that did bad things to me. “Kiss me,” he said. Without hesitation I did so, fitting my mouth to his. Sliding my tongue between his lips and getting lost in him all over again. He groaned, his hands holding me hard against him.

Spotlight ~ Ancient Blood by Brian Patrick McKinley

Title: Ancient Blood
Author: Brian Patrick McKinley
Series: A Novel of the Hegemony
Genre: Paranormal
Published: March 15th 2013 by Ambrosia Arts (first published September 11th 2011)

Avery Doyle loves vampires; he’s read every novel, seen all the movies, and researched the folklore. When his first one-night-stand, Caroline, turns out to be a true vampire on the run, he jumps at the chance to leave his ordinary life and join her as a “child of the night.” The honeymoon ends, however, when Caroline’s brutal Creator Sebastian enslaves them on his island estate and Avery must confront the dehumanizing reality behind his dreams.

In order to survive, Caroline and Avery take their place as servants in Sebastian’s household during a gathering of the most powerful vampires on Earth, the Hegemony, and soon find themselves involved in the myriad intrigues and deceptions that form the night-to-night existence of The Order.

A society of wealth, power, and inhuman decadence whose existence is protected by human complicity and disbelief, The Order is the immortal aristocracy hidden behind the giant corporations and political leaders of the world. Sebastian, however, has a plan that will change The Order forever and shatter human civilization.

To avoid this terrible fate, Avery and Caroline will not only have to defy the most powerful creatures on Earth, but also confront the darkest aspects of themselves. For in the world of the Hegemony, even victory may cost them their souls . . .

A fast-paced thriller that both re-imagines and pays tribute to the traditional vampire, Ancient Blood is a story of love, ambition, sacrifice, and betrayal that is frighteningly human.

Feature and Follow #45

Feature & Follow is a blog hop hosted by Parajunkee & Alison Can Read.

Here’s this week’s question:

How do you handle a book you don’t like? Do you DNF or do you power through?

I have never DNF'd a book before. Authors have put a lot of work and effort into their books so I try to power on through the book even if I am not fully into it. I may skim over the passages, but I always get to the end. I look for the positive things in the book though, as I don’t like to leave negative reviews. Most of the time there is really nothing wrong with the book, it just isn’t my kind of book.

His lips brushed mine once, and then twice. I sucked in a sharp breath and my hands fell to his waist. A deep sound emanated from him, and it rumbled through every part of me, eliciting a series of shivers that skated over my skin. The pressure against my lips increased and his hands slid off my cheeks, delving deep into my hair. He slanted his mouth as he tipped my head back, his teeth tugging on my lower lip, coaxing my mouth to open.
