When I asked my best friend to run away with me at sixteen, I knew he’d say no.⁣ ⁣

He had football, an amazing family, and a happy home to go back to every day.⁣ ⁣

So the night I snuck out of his bedroom window after hugging him goodbye, I’d accepted I’d probably never see him again.⁣ ⁣

Then we both wind up at Lindon University four years later.⁣ ⁣

I’m barely picking up the pieces of my life when the boy whose initials I used to doodle hearts around approaches me at work.⁣ ⁣

Aiden Griffith. Lindon U’s star tight end.⁣ ⁣

Still as attractive. Still as dedicated.⁣ ⁣

With rumors of him being drafted to the NFL coming to fruition, I know it’s only a matter of time before we have to say goodbye again.⁣ ⁣

But he can’t seem to let me go no matter what I say, and I don’t think I want him to.

B. Celeste is another new author to me, and I quite enjoyed Dare You to Hate Me. It was a second chance romance, with a few small twists

I liked Aidan a lot, he was a quiet and caring guy, with plenty of talent. He didn’t fit into the typical jock stereotype, and that made him even more sweet. Ivy struggled growing up, felt unloved and forgotten, made hard decisions which she learnt from. She had so many demons in her past and was trying hard to move on and never forgot Aidan.

This wasn’t an easy read as Ivy dealt with her past and revealed her demons to Aidan. I enjoyed the way B. Celeste told Ivy and Aidan’s story. There were a few twists thrown in that added an extra punch to the storyline, but overall it was a beautiful read.

I loved the way that Aidan spoke to Ivy, he was always sweet and caring and said the right things!!

“Let me be a reason to smile,” he whispers so quietly it’s almost drowned out with the pitter-patter of rain around us.
My eyes close for a moment as I collect my rampant emotions, but I already know I’m done for with that plea spoken in seven tiny words.
All I can manage to say through my choked voice is, “I miss smiling too.”

“And no matter how many times you say you don’t want to be claimed by anyone, we both know that’s bullshit. You were always mine, Chaos. Five years doesn’t change the fact that it’s always been me. Nobody else had a chance. So, that’s what I want. You. Not just your body. But you. Your personality. Your mind. Your problems. Your goddamn companionship. Because that’s what I’ve missed since the day I watched you disappear into the night. Stop trying to push me away. It won’t work.”

B. Celeste was born and raised in Upstate New York where she still resides with her four-legged feline sidekick Oliver “Ollie” Queen.

Her love for writing began with poetry, which she learned to write after watching her father write poetry for her mother, before she found interest in short stories, novellas, and novels.

After getting two degrees in English and Creative Writing, B has written over 12+ full length novels, been invited to many signings around the world, and hopes to begin traveling to see readers worldwide.

We Were On a Break by Lindsey Kelk ~ Review & Teaser (@LindseyKelk)

After picking up this read I know I will be reading more of Lindsey Kelk's work. This was an amusing and addictive read that I devoured quickly!

Is it a break? Or is it a blip?

LIV and ADAM are in love.
LIV and ADAM are supposed to be getting engaged.
Until ADAM accidently suggests they take a break.
And LIV starts thinking …

Friends, family and bystanders all have an opinion and one complication leads to another as Adam and Liv try to muddle through in this hilarious, heartwarming comedy.

Are they split up - or are they on a break? What exactly are they allowed to get away with? And, most importantly, what do Liv and Adam really want?

I stumbled upon this read looking for something new and fun. We Were On a Break was just what I needed, a read that can show what happens when things go pear shaped and a couple is on a break.

I could see that both Liv and Adam loved one another, but Adam's freak out turned into them having a break. It was interesting to see them both fumble through their lives, the way they handled work and seeing the support they got frome their close friends. There were so many amusing moments as the characters tried to carry on as normal, and Liv's friends were hilarious as they banded together to support their friend!

This was quite the entertaining read, I laughed a lot while reading it. I enjoyed Kelk's world building and how the characters handled each hurdle. The side characters added an element of spark and I just couldn't read it quick enough!

If I ever am feeling down, I hope I have someone like David to come and tell me I'm exceptional!

‘I see a clever, caring, funny woman with a great arse and nice tits who chose to dedicate her life to making a difference in other people’s,’ David replied, one fist dug into his hip. ‘It pisses me off when you constantly do yourself down. Abi doesn’t do it, Cass doesn’t do it, I don’t do it. You’re a good person, Liv, but you’re angry with yourself for not being exceptional. Only you’re totally missing the point – you are exceptional.’

My Accidental Forever by Alexis Winter ~ Review & Teaser (@alexis_author)

Girl meets boy.
Girl gets arrested.
Boy bails girl out of jail.
Boy and girl get married?

Not exactly how all good fairytales start but hey, I’m not exactly a princess—more like a hot mess dancing on a table.
One thing I know for sure, true love’s first kiss didn’t take place in a police precinct followed by a scorching one-night stand.

Foster Wilder was my knight in shining armor that night but we both know he can’t be my happily ever after.

I’m determined to stay single, while his family is determined to marry him off to a billion-dollar heiress.

But with rings on our fingers and ‘I Do’s’ said, it looks like that plan is out the window.

We were supposed to get divorced.
His parents weren’t supposed to find out.
And I sure as hell wasn’t supposed to fall in love and end up pregnant with his baby.

I’ve gotten myself into a lot of situations but this one takes the cake…the wedding cake.

After reading another of Alexis Winter's books, I decided I had to try more of her work, so I went back to pick up My Accidental Forever. Foster and Harley's book was quite amusing as I watched two people who weren’t into commitment, fall madly in love!

Harley and Foster’s first few encounters were so funny! I could see that they had a connection, but Harley was focused on being a good friend. When Foster had to bail Harley out of jail, I was laughing, seeing her so humiliated! Ever the gentleman, Foster was willing to look after her until she was able to go home.

These two had amazing chemistry, and I could see them falling in love. Their quick Vegas trip was what I expected, and they didn’t freak out as much as I thought they would. Foster had family issues to overcome, as they had put a lot of pressure on him and his friend Bianca. He had to figure that out and to re-evaluate his future before he could decide whether Harley was the one.

The thing that annoyed me was all the inner dialogue as both Harley and Foster were trying to understand their feelings. It felt like we were going over the same issues and they wouldn’t speak about it. Overall, it was quite a sweet read and I think I’d like to read more books in this series!

Both of these teasers I found amusing!!

“...You still have my card, right?”
I nod. “I do.”
“Use it. Anytime.”
There’s a pen in the cup holder between us and I grab it, then take his hand in mine. I write my number on the back of his hand, but instead of writing my name, I draw a small set of boobs.
He looks down at it and laughs out loud. “So I guess I should call you ‘tits’ from now on, huh?”
I smile. “Most men couldn’t get away with that, but I might just come when you call.”
His eyes grow darker. “Oh, you’ll come all right,” he replies.

Kindle Page 29

“...Now, back to how easy I am . . .” I joke, climbing into his lap.
I kiss him but he pulls away. “I hope I’m the only one you’re this easy with,” he adds on with a smirk.
I giggle. “Well, to be honest, I’ve also already been sold to a family friend. His dad traded my dad two goats and a horse.” That makes him laugh and he flips me over so I’m lying on the couch with him on top of me, between my legs.
“That’s not funny.”
“Why not?” I ask as his lips come down to my neck.
“Because I’d pay at least four goats for you.”

Not Pretending Anymore by Penelope Ward and Vi Keeland ~ Review & Teaser (@PenelopeAuthor, @ViKeeland)

I really enjoyed this read and how Declan weasled his way into Molly's apartment and her life. They were such good friends that turned into something more, it was so entertaining to read about!

Finding a good roommate through a classified ad isn’t as easy as it sounds.
I was starting to lose hope.
Until a knock at my door came and God answered my prayers.
Except…uh…wrong prayer, God.
I’d definitely requested the big guy find me a drop-dead gorgeous man on more than one occasion...just not as my roommate.
Declan Tate talked me into interviewing him anyway.
While he was amusing and charismatic, I wouldn’t have been comfortable living with a man, so I regretfully declined.
Then cupcakes showed up at my door—freshly baked by Declan and just as sinfully delicious as he was.
You could say he was persistent.
I eventually folded. It wasn’t like I had another viable candidate anyway.
Plus, I was interested in someone else. And Declan was into another woman. So it wasn’t like anything would happen romantically.
After he moved in, the two of us became the best of friends. We even started to give each other advice on getting our crushes to notice us.
Eventually, Declan concocted an idea: we should pretend to be a couple to make our love interests jealous.
I was hesitant, but went along with it anyway. To my utter shock, his crazy plan worked.
Now I was dating the supposed man of my dreams, and my best friend had the woman of his.
But there was one problem.
I couldn’t stop thinking about Declan.
Those feelings we were trying to fake?
Yeah…I wasn’t pretending anymore.

Penelope Ward and Vi Keeland sure know how to tell a story and they had me hooked right from the opening chapters! I was laughing about how much effort Declan was putting in to get a room at Molly’s! They were so much fun to read about, so you can imagine that I devoured this book!

It was interesting that Declan and Molly liked other people and they were using each other to secure these other relationships. I could see them trying hard to find love, and they didn’t notice that they were falling for one another. They didn’t talk about their feelings and there were some obstacles that drove them apart.

Although Declan was a fun and outgoing person, he had an issue that he needed to work through himself. The authors handled this issue well and I could see why he struggled like he did. He had good support from his sister and was able to find some answers from his parents also. He just needed the courage to step up and grab what he wanted.

Ward and Keeland delivered this story perfectly! I loved the friends to lovers read and how they took their time realising their feelings for one another, and how far they would go to be happy! It was such an enjoyable read that I didn’t want to end!
The first teaser really moved me, the second one... there was definitely lust in the air!

“There are definitely worse problems to have. You’re living with a gorgeous man and dating another.”
I smiled, though neither scenario was what I wanted. I didn’t want to live with a man or just date one. I wanted to be someone’s ride or die.
I want love.

Kindle Page 108

God, she smelled so damn good. Where the hell was a caveman’s club when I needed it?
Molly walked toward her bedroom. When she got to the door, she stopped and spoke without looking back.
“Hey, Dec?”
“Yeah?”
“Maybe you should lock your door tonight. That margarita really went to my head.”
I smiled. “You too, babe. You too.”

Sick Heart by J.A. Huss ~ Review & Teaser (@jahuss)

DARK MMA FIGHTER ROMANCE

Cort van Breda has won 35 death matches as a fighter in an MMA circuit so deep underground there are no rules and only the winner gets out alive.
They call him the Sick Heart.
They say he’s a shameless monster.
They say he’s a ruthless killer.
They say he’s as twisted as the man who owns him.
They say a lot of things about Cort van Breda.
But in our world violence is money, and money is winning, and winning is life, and life is the only thing that matters.
Except… he wasn’t meant to win that last fight.
And I wasn’t meant to be his prize.
But he did.
And I am.
And now his sick heart owns me.

WARNING: This is a sweet love story adrift in an ocean of evil. It is about two survivors dealing with their darkest secrets while they fight to change their lives. It is for mature readers only and has descriptions of deeply disturbing situations. There will be pearl clutching.

It’s been a while since I’ve read a J.A. Huss book, and I’ll tell you that it was exciting to get back into her dark and twisted world once again! Huss introduced us to another part of her dark world through illegal boxing. It’s a deadly and scary world, where no one is safe. People are all pawns and for those in charge are expendable.

I loved the way the story began, and it had me questioning what was going on, as it’s not a usual beginning to a Huss read, but after a while I understood and was excited for the direction of this story. There were some moments that had me cringing, but it wasn’t long before we were thrown into crazy action and some steamy moments!

Cort and Anya were both very strong characters, stuck in a world that they can’t get out of. Cort was very successful in his world, and was doing everything he could to secure his freedom and that of those he help close. Anya knew that it was easier to keep to herself so she could get through the dark world she was in. When backed against the wall she could be fierce. I enjoyed watching her show more strength throughout the read and stand on her feet to face those stronger than her.

This was such a great read, and I cannot wait for more. I enjoyed getting to know both Cort and Anya, as well as Cort’s entourage. There were some sizzling scenes woven throughout the read, and I was constantly on edge wondering what would happen next! I am so excited to continue more books in this world!

These two had insane chemistry, and every little moment pulled them closer together.

When I turn to her, she’s already looking at me. And when I kiss her, her mouth is already open.
I know this is the Lectra. But I don’t care.
I kiss her back with force, angling my body towards her, then over her, until she’s practically lying back on the steps. And before I can think too hard about it, or talk myself out of it, I slip my hand between her legs.

Kindle Page 219

“There she is.” A cool hand flattens on my forehead. “Anya? Can you hear me?”
Who is that?
“Anya,” he whispers. “Wake up. It’s been almost two days. You have to pee. There’s no way you don’t have to pee.”
I try to laugh, because that’s true. I really do need to pee. But the pain that shoots through my face is enough to make me choke. And at the same time, the coughing is still happening.
“Can you open your eyes? Come on, Anya. Enough is enough. You need to come out of this. Maart wants to call for a ’copter to take you to the mainland. And you can’t leave now. Not yet.”
