Jesse by J.A. Huss ~ Review & Teaser (@jahuss)

It’s been a while since I’ve read JA Huss, so I decided it was about time that I got back on board! Jesse is that start of a new series, where the storyline’s tie together through different characters. It was an exciting beginning, and I can’t wait for more!

Thirteen years before Emma Dumas bought me in a bachelor auction to teach me a lesson she stole my heart down on Key West. I fell so hard for this girl I made all the promises. Only with Emma, I really meant them.

And then I disappeared.

But it wasn’t my fault. Let’s just call my reason “Family Business”. I’d tell you what that business is, but then I’d have to kill you. Just kidding. I can’t tell you what my family business is because it’s so secret, even I don’t know.

My point is… I didn’t ghost. It was a weird twist of circumstances. And OK, yes. I did hook up with pretty much every girl on the island that week. But after I met Emma, I was ruined. She was the only one I wanted.

It’s been thirteen years. I’m a changed man.

I STILL want her. I have ALWAYS wanted her.

But it’s kind of hard to tell her that with a gag in my mouth and a hood over my head.

Bossy Brothers: Jesse features a bachelor auction gone wrong, four smart ladies who botch a crazy revenge kidnapping, a power dream date with fast cars, private jets, and expensive yachts, and a happily ever after that proves… sometimes the best man for the job is a woman.

JA Huss is an author that I love as she writes stories that are entertaining but she manages to throw in a twisted storyline that will hook you. That is what she has done with the first book in this series, Jesse, giving us a taste of the fun then throwing in some twists that you want to know more of!

This was a second chance romance, but for Emma it was a revenge plan. I could see that Emma was changing her mind as she got to know the older Jesse, but a little push from her friends and she took the plunge. She regretted it and tried to mend that mistake, and couldn’t trust the boy that she once fell for.

Jesse didn’t recognise Emma to begin with, but once he did he was ready to play the game. After spending so much time together and revealing so much about himself, I could see him change and fall for Emma. I liked seeing them interact and they both opened up throughout the read. When the twists were revealed, I wondered if they could get over that hurdle and keep the bond that they had formed.

I loved this read and watching how amusing Jesse and Emma were together. I could feel the intensity building through the read and was keen to see where the story was headed. Huss has created another incredible world and a cast of characters I want to know more of. I’m used to the twists that Huss throws into her reads, so I know this was the beginning of a mind bending series!

I just loved Jesse, he could be so sweet and passionate!

But he pauses, tilts his head up to mine until our eyes meet.
And then he kisses me.
And I kiss him back.
And we taste like butterscotch-cherry and vanilla-chocolate.
His tongue is cool as he tangles it with mine. And his lips are soft.
And he pulls back too fast, but slowly too. Easing back into his seat. Staring at me.

“Maybe you forgot about me all these years, and maybe you didn’t. Doesn’t matter. Because now that I’m back you’ll never get me out of your head again. And if we don’t finish what we started last night you’ll spend the rest of your days wondering what if.”

“We’re that couple,” he whispers. “We’re that couple who sticks together because we know who’s side we’re on.”
“Ours,” I say.
“Ours,” he agrees. “I would go anywhere with you. I would do anything you ask. You know why?”
“Why?” I whisper, looking up in his blue-blue eyes.
“Because you’re the best boss ever.”
