Say You Still Love Me by K.A. Tucker ~ Review & Teaser (@kathleenatucker)

K.A. Tucker is an author that I love to read. She creates worlds and characters that aren't perfect, that touch you personally. Life's not always sunshine and rainbows, and in this case not all threads lead to happily ever afters for some characters.

The bestselling author of The Simple Wild and Keep Her Safe and “master of steamy romance” (Kirkus Reviews) delivers a sizzling novel about an ambitious and high-powered executive who reconnects with her first love: the boy who broke her heart.

Life is a mixed bag for Piper Calloway.

On the one hand, she’s a twenty-nine-year-old VP at her dad’s multibillion-dollar real estate development firm, and living the high single life with her two best friends in a swanky downtown penthouse. On the other hand, she’s considered a pair of sexy legs in a male-dominated world and constantly has to prove her worth. Plus she’s stuck seeing her narcissistic ex-fiancé—a fellow VP—on the other side of her glass office wall every day.

Things get exponentially more complicated for Piper when she runs into Kyle Miller—the handsome new security guard at Calloway Group, and coincidentally the first love of her life.

The guy she hasn’t seen or heard from since they were summer camp counselors together. The guy from the wrong side of the tracks. The guy who apparently doesn’t even remember her name.

Piper may be a high-powered businesswoman now, but she soon realizes that her schoolgirl crush is still alive and strong, and crippling her concentration. What’s more, despite Kyle’s distant attitude, she’s convinced their reunion isn’t at all coincidental, and that his feelings for her still run deep. And she’s determined to make him admit to them, no matter the consequences.

Say You Still Love Me was such a bitter-sweet read. It was incredible getting the whole story, both the past and present, through alternating chapters. It was cute watching their teen romance bloom, but also to see the struggles they endured through their adult lives.

Back in the past, at a camp that Piper was forced to go to, Piper and Kyle fell hard and fast. Their connection grew swiftly, and like a lot of teenagers, they had their own fun and got themselves into a bit of mischief. I knew they were going to be torn apart and it broke my heart to find out the details.

In the present, Piper was struggling in a world run by her father surrounded by men that didn't take her seriously. She was the Senior Vice President and thanks to a terrific assistant she was doing an incredible job. However, she was continuously undermined by others around her, as well as her father. Crossing paths with Kyle again, brought a spark back into her life, as well as secrets from the past.

I enjoyed how this story was told, and I was constantly wondering what was going to happen next. Despite the time, I could tell that Kyle and Piper still had strong feelings for one another. K.A. Tucker built an incredible world, with amazing characters I wanted to know more about. My heart broke for them as the struggle with the truths from the past, but I had faith for their future!
You can see that these two are trying so hard to keep their attraction at bay... until they can't any longer!!

“You remembered.”
“Of course I did. I remember everything, Kyle.” I hear the vulnerability in my voice and I hate it. I clear my throat and attempt to steel my nerve. “Unlike you, I’ve never forgotten.”
“I haven’t forgotten anything,” he says quickly, sharply, piercing me with a look that is somehow both hard and soft. “Not a second of it.”

“Piper . . .” His throat bobs with a hard swallow.
“We still have feelings for each other.”
“I know, but—”
“But we’re supposed to pretend we don’t? We’re supposed to pass each other in the hall as we go and date other people? I’m supposed to be okay with perky little Renée hovering around the security desk until you ask her out?” I shake my head, my frustration swelling. “No, I’m sorry. That’s not happening—”
Kyle’s lips crash into mine, cutting my words off. His hands are on me in an instant, one settling on the back of my bare neck, the other curling around my waist, to pull me flush into his solid body.
