In the shore town of Sea Breeze, Sadie discovers that fame is nothing in the face of passion. A steamy read from bestselling author Abbi Glines.

Sadie White’s summer job is at the beach, but she won’t be working as a lifeguard. Since her mom is pregnant and refuses to work, Sadie will be taking over as a domestic servant for a wealthy family on a nearby island.

When the family arrives at their summer getaway, Sadie is surprised to learn that the owner of the house is Jax Stone, one of the hottest teen rockers in the world. If Sadie were normal—if she hadn’t spent her life raising her mother and taking care of the house—maybe she’d be excited about working for a rock star. But she’s not.

Even though Sadie isn’t impressed by Jax’s fame, he is drawn to her. Everything about Sadie fascinates Jax, but he fights his attraction: Relationships never work in his world, and as badly as he wants Sadie, he believes she deserves more. Yet as the summer stretches on, Jax’s passion leaves him breathless—and Sadie feels like the only source of oxygen.

Can their love overcome the disparity in their lifestyles? One breath at a time, they’re going to find out…

It has been a while since I have read one of Abbi Glines books, so I decided it was time to begin the Sea Breeze series. After finishing Breathe, I am keen to read more! She has begun the series with two refreshing characters that will sweep you away into the world Abbi has created.

Sadie is such a sweet girl and right from the beginning I liked her. She is more like the adult in her relationship with her mother, so has grown up before she had to. Even though she is quite mature for her age, I could see that innocence about her. She has only been in Sea Breeze for a few months and doesn’t have any friends; however the job she takes opens up those possibilities and more.

Jax is used to girls chasing him, but Sadie is different to him. She keeps a professional attitude while at work and tries to maintain her distance. She sees past the rocker and to the heart of the teen idol. I could see that he wanted a normal life and was able to relax around Sadie. It was sweet to see their relationship develop and interesting to see how the world reacted once the news got out.

Breathe was a beautiful beginning to the Sea Breeze series. The connection between these two began early and seeing them interact was cute. It was nice to see Sadie grow as a person and for Jax to let someone in. The few song lyrics scattered throughout the book gave greater depth to Jax and often made me swoon over him! If you are after a lighter romance with a few sizzling scenes, I definitely recommend this one!

  1. Awesome review, Naomi. If you loved Jax and Sadie, then wait until you meet Cage. He makes small appearances in the next installment (SB2) and has his full story told in (SB3). Although I love all the SB boys - Cage is my favorite.
Can't wait to see what you think of him.

  4. Well first of all... there's a musician in this story, right? That alone is enough to make me want to add it to my TBR, but it seems to be a lot going on here, so now I really need Breathe. Great review, Naomi :)

  12. I'm so glad you enjoyed Breathe, Naomi. I heard Abbi speak recently and she said this is her worst book. If it's this good, the next installments are gonna rock your world! I'm sooo looking forward to meeting Sadie and Jax. :)
