New York Times bestselling author Nalini Singh stuns with a sizzling contemporary romance…
A bad boy wrapped in a sexy, muscled, grown-up package might be worth a little risk…
Molly Webster has always followed the rules. After an ugly scandal tore apart her childhood and made her the focus of the media’s harsh spotlight, she vowed to live an ordinary life. No fame. No impropriety. No pain. Then she meets Zachary Fox, a tattooed bad boy rocker with a voice like whiskey and sin, and a touch that could become an addiction.
A one-night stand with the hottest rock star on the planet, that’s all it was meant to be…
Fox promises scorching heat and dangerous pleasure, coaxing Molly to extend their one-night stand into a one-month fling. After that, he’ll be gone forever, his life never again intersecting with her own. Sex and sin and sensual indulgence, all with an expiration date. No ties, no regrets. Too late, Molly realizes it isn’t only her body that’s become addicted to Fox, but her heart…

I am a fan of Nalini’s Guild Hunter and Psy-Changling books, so when I saw this new series of hers, I just had to give it a go. I have seen a lot of people conflicted about this book, but I think it was a good introduction to the series and has left it wide open for more in the series, as we were introduced to plenty of interesting side characters.
Molly and Fox (Zachary Fox) cross paths right at the beginning of the book and immediately they have a connection. They hook up and Fox wants to keep seeing Molly while he is in New Zealand. Molly is quite hesitant because of what has happened in her past, but seriously… it’s FOX! Lead singer from Schoolboy Choir (You have to know by now I love Rockers!). Anyway… They spend time together and you could see that Fox wants something more, whereas Molly doesn’t want the complications of his busy lifestyle.
Molly is a little broken because of her past, but I loved how Fox was able to draw her out and show her more about herself and others. He basically sweeps her off her feet and it was sweet to see her let a guy into her life. Fox, well he is just that confident guy who has found someone he wants in his life for good. He is a better person around Molly and his band mates are quick to accept her.
I thought it was a good introduction to the series and I was able to see the complications of the rock world. The passion between Molly and Fox was scorching, and it was great to see them work through all the problems thrown their way. I met a lot of other great characters that I am excited to see more of: Molly’s sister Thea, her bestfriend Charlie, Fox’s friend Kit and the other bandmates – David, Noah and Abe. You could see little glimpses of other relationships forming, so it’ll be exciting to see how things go!

A lot of readers didn't like this much, I think you're the only one who rated this over 3 stars. I'm glad you found a few positives to keep you reading
ReplyDeleteHmmmmm...I'm thinking I'll pass on this one.
ReplyDeleteI did... there are some other great characters that were introduced. I just like the chase more I think and this is too quick.
ReplyDeleteI think many will.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a good beginning and Molly sounds like a charcter I could like.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you liked this intro to Singh's new series. I have read mixed reviews but I think it's hard for an author with a really strong fan base to break into a different genre. I'll probably wait to see what you think of the next one before i gamble on it. Great review, Naomi!
ReplyDeleteIt was a good beginning, and Molly was great!
ReplyDeleteYeah, it is a bit different for her, and it is an insta-love relationship too, so it's right from the beginning. I will see how the next one goes.
