The Connections series continues with this spin-off novel.
He didn’t think, he didn’t question—he just acted.
What she wanted, she took—without regard.
It was only one night, but it changed everything.
After losing his fiancée, Ben Covington is unsure he’ll ever love again. But when he sees Bell Wilde, he’s so deeply drawn to her, that he’s thrown for a loop. Maybe it’s purely sexual chemistry that’s igniting this spark between them...or maybe it’s his second chance at love.
Bell has just gotten her life back on track and may not be up for the challenge of Ben Covington. But once they’re reunited, there’s no holding back—even if a secret from Bell’s past just might shatter them both.

Even though Frayed is the forth book in the Connections series, it was easy to get swept away in the world that Kim Karr created. I got to know both of the main characters, learnt about their pasts and where they fit in relation to the previous books. The story hits on some emotional issues and it was interesting to see how they both dealt with them.
Ben and Bell have crossed paths a number of times since college. They have a connection that neither of them understood and these glimpses from the past sure gave more substance to their story. I began to understand how difficult things were for them. Just when I thought things would be on the right track for them, they’d hit some sort of crossroad.
Ben seemed to be portrayed as a bad boy, but I didn’t really see him like that at all. He was sweet, passionate and determined to get what is his. I didn’t really see him bad at all. He didn’t handle some news very well, but that kind of shock can really throw you off course. Bell, she was ok too; you could see that she had deep feelings from him and tries so hard to keep him away, but it is all too hard for her. The passion they have when they are together is hard to ignore.
I think this particular book was done well. I haven’t read the other books but I understood what has been going on and how closely these two were twisted together. Some of the secrets that were revealed I had a hunch about earlier in the book, but I don’t think it took anything away from when they were revealed. They still shattered my heart and I had to flick the pages to see how they dealt with it and whether they could move past them. At times I felt the book dragged a little and I just wanted the characters to get their acts together. But in the end I really enjoyed the book; it had a great storyline, broken characters who were very passionate.
