Review ~ Sentinel by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Title: Sentinel
Author: Jennifer L. Armentrout
Series: Covenant #5
Genre: YA Paranormal Romance
Published: November 2nd 2013

It's a beautiful day for a war.

As the mortal world slowly slips into chaos of the godly kind, Alexandria Andros must overcome a stunning defeat that has left her shaken and in doubt of their ability to end this war once and for all.

And with all the obstacles between Alex and her happily-ever-after with the swoonworthy Aiden St. Delphi, they must now trust a deadly foe as they travel deep into the Underworld to release one of the most dangerous gods of all time.

In the stunning, action-packed climax to the bestselling Covenant series, Alex must face a terrible choice: the destruction of everything and everyone she holds dear… or the end of herself.

All I can say is WOW!! That was an exciting, action packed and emotional end to the Covenant series. I don’t know what I expected, but I didn’t expect that amount of emotion from the book! I was a bit of a sobbing mess, actually. (Note to self, do not read sad scenes while trying to run on treadmill… I was running, crying and trying to breathe at the same time.) Having read all the books in the series I expected a big show-down… I thought that I was prepared for it, but I realised I wasn’t. It was a fitting ending for a remarkable series.

Alex has grown so much as a character throughout the whole series, and she stepped it up once again in Sentinel. Although she was off to a rocky start in the beginning, she soon drew in all the courage she could and stepped up to the plate. She knew what her role was and followed through until the very end.

Alex’s closest friends were great support, as usual, backing her through everything. Aiden is amazing and it was great to see his commitment and passion when it came to Alex. He would do anything for her, and even showed restraint when he didn’t want to. Seth was a bit of a surprise to me and he just entrenched himself more in my heart.

I loved the build up to the big finale… There were a few details to sort out, favours called in and deals made, but the plan all came together. The ending was everything that I expected, and I can’t even begin to explain the turmoil I went through. Jennifer L. Armentrout rocked my paranormal world with this book and I am super excited to dive into The Return… the first book from Titan, the spinoff series.
