Series: Frigid #1
Genre: NA Contemporary Romance
Published: July 15th 2013

For twenty-one-year-old Sydney, being in love with Kyler isn't anything new. They'd been best friends ever since he pushed her down on the playground and she made him eat a mud pie. Somewhere over the years, she fell for him and fell hard. The big problem with that? Kyler puts the 'man' in man-whore. He's never stayed with a girl longer than a few nights, and with it being their last year in college, Syd doesn't want to risk their friendship by declaring her love.

Kyler has always put Syd on a pedestal that was too high for him to reach. To him, she's perfect and she's everything. But the feelings he has for her, he's always hidden away or focused on any other female. After all, Kyler will always be the poor boy from the wrong side of tracks, and Syd will always be the one girl he can never have.

But when they're stranded together at a posh ski resort due to a massive Nor'easter, there's nothing stopping their red-hot feelings for each other from coming to the surface. Can their friendship survive the attraction? Better yet, can they survive at all? Because as the snow falls, someone is stalking them, and this ski trip may be a life-changer in more ways than one.

I thought that Frigid is a bit of a feel good read as I was able to giggle and swoon the whole way through. The characters are both fun and the storyline is intense in places, but overall, about love. Once I started reading I found it hard to put down and read it within a day.

Sydney and Kyler head to the snow to Kyler’s family cabin before Christmas with friends. This year a snow storm hits and they are stuck there by themselves and their friends are unable to get through. They decide to head down to the main lodge and Sydney gets drunk, which is out of character for her. There is a bit of an altercation and they stumble, well Katie stumbles and Kyler tries to support her, but soon things change between them.

Sydney is a character that I related to quite easily and sometimes I saw some of the same personality traits that I had at that age. She is a bit of a shy person, doesn’t think she is that attractive and hasn’t had many guys look twice at her. She has had one long term boyfriend, which ended quite abruptly. The only other guy she has ever had feelings for is her best-friend, Kyler. She tries to avoid conflict where possible and even though Kyler does things that upset her, she buries it deep so that he can’t see it affecting her. At times she is witty, mostly to herself and I was cracking up at some things she said…… lady balls!! Seriously!!

Kyler is a man-whore! Yup, we find that out through Sydney and we soon see why! He is dead set gorgeous and he knows it! He is arrogant but is always looking out for Sydney. I wasn’t sure what to think of him at first, but I could see that he would do anything for Sydney, as they have been friends since they were little. When the book shifted to his POV I was able to see the conflicting thoughts that were running around his head.

I enjoyed how the story unfolded and how easy the characters interact. They know each other so well and it was cute to see childhood friends unravel their feelings for one another. J. Lynn, as usual has written a fantastic story that had me all warm and bubbly inside. Everyone can see that these two characters are attracted to each other, except themselves. The bedroom scenes are explosive at times, and they even had me a bit hot and bothered! I enjoyed the whole story and I look forward to reading more in this series!!

  4. Oooh, this book looks so good!! The only hesitation I have on reading it is I have a cousin named Kyler and I think it would be weird to read a book with steamy scenes with the MC names that.

    Great review Naomi :D.
