Destined For Fire begins immediately after Tethered by Fate, where Alyx and Micah step out of the portal into Australia. They both want revenge for what happened in the last book and plan on bringing Serpious down or they will die trying. Together, along with a new face and an old friend they set off through Australia to Sydney for the final show down, running into trouble along the way.

Alyx has changed dramatically since we first met her: she has lived as a human, adapted to being an angel and found love only to lose it. It has made her a better person and more determined to see things through to the end. She was disappointed with the lack of support that she received but never second guessed anything that she set her mind out to do. She has courage in abundance and that is why I liked her so much. She will put herself on the line to save the rest of humanity.

Micah is great support for Alyx; he helps her sort out her thoughts to get back on track. During this trip Micah figures out the connection between Alyx and his father so he understands why she is unwavering about seeing it draw to a close. Micah also learns a little about himself and maybe he has his sights set on a young Aussie girl!

I had the pleasure of reading this book early as it was set in my country – Australia, as the author needed some feedback as to whether or not she grasped the country well enough in her writing: the land, wildlife and dialect. For someone who hasn’t visited Australia, I think that she did a remarkable job at portraying Australia in her book, although it is a little different only because of the way the plot has unfolded. I felt like I was travelling through Australia with the characters as well. S.J. Pierce has done a fabulous job concluding this series and it was great to see how things played out in the end. There wasn’t a lot of action but it looked as though it was a well planned exercise. To me it looked like Alyx was a pawn in the bigger picture, only she didn’t know about it. I’m looking forward to see what else S.J. Pierce has in store for us in the future!

I received a copy of this book from the Author in exchange for an honest review.

S.J. PierceSusan James Pierce has a degree in Marketing Management, works for a Fortune 500 company in Atlanta, Georgia, and devotes her precious, spare time to writing Fantasy and Sci-fi novels. Even though her full-time career has nothing to do with books at all, she has always enjoyed complex storytelling with fascinating characters, and has had a penchant for the written word since grade school. As a matter of fact, her first publishing credit was a poem she wrote at the age of twelve. Why her love for writing never translated into a career, she can only attribute to ‘life happens’, but her wish is that she can redirect her career path into something that satisfies her creative inner-self.
