Ethereal Fury is an entertaining start to the new and original series, Gemini Rising by Jessica O'Gorek. Mother Earth has decided that the human race has abused the planet for too long and wants to exterminate us all. She is using her Gemini recruits – souls that she takes from some unworthy humans – as the tools to bring peace to earth. The Gemini are souls from humans that can possess other humans and bend them to do their will. While in possession of a human they wreak havoc, cause destruction and eliminate people with any means necessary. What Mother Earth and her Gemini don’t expect is that there are people within the church that suspect what the Gemini are doing and that one of her recruits harbours feelings for a human.

There are some great characters in this book, Slate is the protégé of one of the priests and they want to use him to get rid of the Demons. The more he learns about them the more sceptical he is. Violette has lived in the orphanage since the death of her family when her town was wiped out. She is becoming a little suspicious of the priests and begins to suspect there are other things out there. Onyx is a Gemini and in the beginning of the story we see why he was chosen to become part of the group. He has been one of the best recruits for the Gemini and is quite heartless. I think that he still has a bit of humanity though.

I liked how the author built the world and how the story unfolded. I was quite intrigued by the unique storyline and was easily swept away with the plot. Just when I was getting right into the story, I ran out of pages and the book was left open for the next one in the series. I almost threw my iPad away, until I realised there is a sneak peek into the next book in the series in the back!! It was an enjoyable read and I look forward to seeing how things unfold in the future.

I received a copy of this book from the Author in exchange for an honest review.
