Title: Obsession
Author: Jennifer L Armentrout
Series: Adult Spin-Off of the Lux series
Genre: Adult Paranormal Romance
Published: May 31st 2013

This is a stand alone novel that is an adult spin-off
of the Lux Series

He’s arrogant, domineering, and... To. Die. For.

Hunter is a ruthless killer. And the Department of Defense has him firmly in their grasp, which usually doesn’t chafe too badly because he gets to kill bad guys. Most of the time he enjoys his job. That is, until he’s saddled with something he’s never had to do before: protect a human from his mortal enemy.

Serena Cross didn’t believe her best friend when she claimed to have seen the son of a powerful senator turn into something... unnatural. Who would? But then she witnesses her friend’s murder at the hands of what can only be an alien, thrusting her into a world that will kill to protect their secret.

Hunter stirs Serena’s temper and her lust despite their differences. Soon he’s doing the unthinkable—breaking the rules he’s lived by, going against the government to keep Serena safe. But are the aliens and the government the biggest threats to Serena’s life… or is it Hunter?

I thought that Daemon was a hot piece, but you should meet Hunter!! He is just like how Daemon was… cocky, arrogant, so full of himself!! The difference being that Daemon is a Luxen, and Hunter is an Arum! Yup, Arum… the supposed bad aliens! Granted that the Arum do have a dark side, but no matter what race we are, there are always good and bad people and Obsession certainly opened my eyes, I tell you!!

Serena’s friend Mel witnessed an incident and the details that she overheard she shared with Serena and in the end put her in danger. Hunter is sent to protect her and to find out all the details that he can, but he doesn’t see the point as he believes all humans are weak and doesn’t care for them. But because he works for the DOD, he sucks it up and does his job. Soon things spiral out of control and he whisks Serena off to safety. Spending so much time together, alone, they grow feelings for each other and the chemistry becomes scorching!!

Serena is a tough girl and wants to do everything in her power to make those accountable for what they have done, but she quickly learns it’s not as easy as it sounds. A certain Alien seems to distract her as well, which doesn’t help! She is a great character; she is independent, has spunk and hates to be bossed around. Hunter has a lot of similar qualities and is very bossy! Along the way he becomes very protective of Serena and doesn’t realise it immediately! It was funny to see them bicker and carry on, but when things became intense, their lust quickly took over!

What I loved was seeing the battle between the Luxens and the Arums from Hunters POV. From reading the Lux series, we assume the Arums are just evil, but seeing Hunter and the change he goes through it seems it is not the case. We learn a lot about the Arum world and how their powers work and it will give great depth to the Lux series.

The crossover of a few characters from the Lux series was a highlight. Some, we don’t know their names, but from descriptions and hints it is easy to work out, others actually have bigger roles and it was entertaining to see them again! Jennifer certainly knows how to write sizzling bedroom scenes! They are so full of passion and one of them was so intimate as the characters were having a conversation while slowly exploring… SO HOTT!!! I can’t wait for Origin and I think that we will see more of Hunter in the future!

Awesome review!! I soooo need to read this one! Have it on my kindle but just keep forgetting about kindle books since I don't "see" them! My other TBR books are sitting in piles in front of my bookcase, so I "see" those all the time!

Very much looking forward to this one! Think I need to schedule a Kindle book reading week!
