very excited to be promoting TSTD on its first Blog tour.
You're welcome! It is great to host you and your book here! I just had a couple of
questions for you about the development of your book. Ok here goes…
What/ where /when did you get
the inspiration to write Thirty Seconds to Die?
The
idea for TSTD developed quickly and really came out of nowhere. I was watching
a TV show where they were visiting Ferndale, CA. The show had me reminiscing
about family friends from when I was young who were from the area. I love
Northern California and the redwoods. Once I had the idea in my head the story
really took on a life of its own.
Did
you go straight into writing it immediately or did it come over time?
I
started writing as soon as I had the scene in my head. The way I create a story
is I plan out a scene in my mind. I let it build and evolve then I start
writing. Creating and building a storyboard is a big part of my creative
process. Having the visual in front of me as I write helps me to stay in the
world I’ve created.
Are
there people who inspired you or the characters in the book?
I draw
inspiration from everything. For TSTD I was first inspired by the opening
location – Ferndale, CA. As for people who inspire me, there’s not a specific
person for any of the characters. They are drawn from music, movies, books and
my life experiences.
