Sydney Sage is an Alchemist, one of a group of humans who dabble in magic and serve to bridge the worlds of humans and vampires. They protect vampire secrets—and human lives.
In The Fiery Heart, Sydney risked everything to follow her gut, walking a dangerous line to keep her feelings hidden from the Alchemists.

Now in the aftermath of an event that ripped their world apart, Sydney and Adrian struggle to pick up the pieces and find their way back to each other. But first, they have to survive.

For Sydney, trapped and surrounded by adversaries, life becomes a daily struggle to hold on to her identity and the memories of those she loves. Meanwhile, Adrian clings to hope in the face of those who tell him Sydney is a lost cause, but the battle proves daunting as old demons and new temptations begin to seize hold of him. . . .

Their worst fears now a chilling reality, Sydney and Adrian face their darkest hour in this heart-pounding fifth installment in the New York Times bestselling Bloodlines series, where all bets are off.

I have been itching to pick up Silver Shadows for some time, but I decided to hold out until The Ruby Circle was close to being released… Well, The Ruby Circle is out TODAY, and after this ending, I am so glad that I can pick up the final book immediately!

From the very beginning I was sucked into this story as I saw Sydney struggle with the situation she was in. She is such a terrific character and she endured so much but realised what she had to do to survive. She made alliances where she could and continued to formulate plans even though it seemed helpless. Her sole focus was getting back to Adrian and she called upon every trick she could – Alchemist or magic – to try and get back to him.

Adrian… I really love him, but he was lost not knowing what happened to Sydney. He began to fall into old habits and the side effects of Spirit didn’t help him. When he realised what he’d done, he stepped up and focused on getting Sydney back and I admired his determination. He contacted those he knew would help and they formulated plans to find out where Sydney was.

Silver Shadows was a gripping read and I found it hard to put it down. I love all these characters and I feel like I am right there with them throughout everything. The last half of the book was full of action and there was so much going on, that I was furiously flicking the pages, watching the danger unfold and seeing whether things would work out for Sydney and Adrian. I also saw glimpses of the secondary characters that I have met throughout not only the Bloodline series, but the Vampire Academy series, and seeing them again always makes me happy and the story even better!

Richelle Mead is an exceptional story teller; just when you think things are going to be ok, she throws in a twist that has your heart hammering and you are demanding the next book! I cannot wait to get The Ruby Circle to see how Sydney and Adrian’s story concludes!!

  4. I just couldn't get into this series! I know it's well-loved, but I think it's because I was never a fan of Adrian and I thought this was a bit dry. Glad you loved these!
